  1. Thank you! That of course is my first move however the files do not move to the correct position. They do not end up on the right position in the song. Not sure what the engineer did in Pro Tools, but I still have to shift them to their right spot.
  2. I imported hundreds of stems from a Pro Tools session. I have 20 mics and 19 takes per mic, so it's a total of 380 tracks. Every track has one region on it. Attached is a screenshot. For the 20 regions that all end with the take number "04_04" for example, i want to move all of them to the same timestamp. Hence, I need to select the fourth take from all 20 microphones. I can do this manually and it takes mad time. Is there a way to select all the same takes at once ? "Select equal regions" is not working for some strange reason.
  3. @David NahmaniBrilliant idea. But unfortunately, it too also does not work. Captured screen recording, too large to attach so here on youtube:
  4. @speakerfood I tried that, not working @polanoid I had an inkling it was related to that. Then I started researching control change messages vs. automation and ended up in Nirvana. Can I get rid of these control change messages some other way? Why do they show up in automation when they aren't automation?
  5. Hello everyone, Got a 72 piece orchestral score on Sibelius. Use NotePerformer as playback device in Sibelius. Export Sibelius score as a midi file (see my midi export options attached as a screenshot) and the import it into Logic. Now all my regions have a bunch of parameters attached to them (see screenshot). I created a shortcut for "Delete all Region Automation" in Key Commands. Whenever I use this shortcut, none of these Region Automation points disappear. When I click MIX>DELETE AUTOMATION>DELETE ALL AUTOMATION ON SELECTED TRACK it also does not delete any automation whatsoever. I also checked key command conflicts, nothing. The only mass deletion command that works is 'delete all visible automation'. But that is not sufficient since I want to avoid having to go through 72 tracks (20 times cause I need to produce 20 tracks!) and open all the automation parameters. Massive waste of my time. Any input on this ? Thanks a million, my friends. j
  6. Great! On it. Thanks a ton, David. Maybe I will be fortunate to work with you someday. Got lots more of these coming up soon.
  7. David. It is always humbling to get input from you, you are considered to be the guru in the field. So thank you very much for taking your time to reply so carefully to this. This all is straightforward and very helpful. I will get right to it. 'Fortunately' the apocalypse seems near, so I suppose it won't take THAT long then... I do have one last question for you, yes: As a highly experienced mixing engineer, do you advise to (or against) the following scenario: - 57 instruments (50+ mics) - measure 70 - measure 104, decided on Take 3 being the most usable - piccolo between m74 and m82 has two unforgivable mistakes - I replace the piccolo track in those 9 bars with the piccolo from an earlier take - I do the same replace on the microphones in direct surrounding of the piccolo (woodwinds mic, clarinets mic, horn1 mic, FHorns mic and bassoon mic) in order to prevent as much bleed as possible Is this kind of 'lego-ing' together frowned upon due to excessive bleeds within the room or would you consider for this to be 'standard practice' ?
  8. Right. Thank you for the reply. So how do you suggest I put them in? Just as three mono channels next to each other ? And then put the three of them on a summing stack? And how do I put multiple takes of the same moment in the composition in there ?
  9. Hey everyone! I just returned from a 2 day recording session with the Prague Philharmonic. So this post solely concerns real orchestral recordings, no sample libraries. While I am aware of the importance of consulting and hiring a trained and experienced mixing engineers for the orchestral format, I do want to also give this session a shot myself. Everything was recorded on ProTools, I have all the stems. I imported the tempo map into Logic and now I have a total of 62 microphones total and then countless takes on each one of those mics. What is the best way for me to import this ? For the deca tree I received "Tree Right" "Tree Center" and "Tree Left". Do I put them in a sum stack? Do I choose a surround track for them? Different takes from one and the same measures go on different tracks and everything is then summed to a folder ? For example: There is four microphones for Violin I. I create one "Violin 1" sum folder and in it I have four different tracks (being the four different microphones) and then how would I subcategorize the individual takes? Just trying to find some guidance as to what the industry standard way of setting up such a session in Logic is. Thank you !
  10. Hey! Has this ever changed ? I have a violin track with six different automation lines. Below it is a viola track with a different melody. But I want to copy all six automation lanes from the violin part onto the viola part. They will play the part the same, but they are assigned different pitches. So just moving the region won't do it cause the pitches are different. Any way I can move multiple automation lanes at once to another track? That would save a TON of copy pasting time Thanks !
  11. Appreciate the quick response here. But no, that article does not help I already know the things there. This is in particular about undesired midi events being created inside my regions when switching articulations on my keyboard (which is a new occurrance. it has worked beautifully for months)
  12. PS: I know there is a MIDI REMOTE button that can be de/activated in the articulation settings. When it is activated (highlighted in orange), the plugin interface no longer responds to me pushing the pads on my keyboard. Solely the Logic - native articulation settings react
  13. Hello Logic Gurus (cause let's admit it, that's what y'all are!), Stats: Mac Spitfire BBC Symphony Pro Logic Pro X latest version intermediate/advanced (myself) I have - a long time ago - mapped all the articulations in Spitfires plugin to my midi keyboard. I got 16 pads on my keyboard, all of them assigned to C#-1, D-1 etc. The plugin interface reacts beautifully to it. In my DAW, I created articulation settings for all of the instruments in this plug in. So I choose violins 1, i choose the BBC Strings Articulation settings. Photo attached is screenshot of the articulation settings specific for the strings. Now, when I play a melody in through my keyboard, I suddenly get midi events popping up in those lower octaves whenever I make an articulation change. When I delete them, the articulation gets lost at playback (I can still select it manually through the dropdown menu). What the h happened? It always worked fine without creating these midi events. I did just download another sample library that I effed around with and I am wondering if there is a simple setting I changed for this to be happening now? Last thing I want is those events cluttering up my scores, I export all of it to sibelius as I will have to make parts for orchestra. Thank you, all knowing masters of Logic. I am eternally grateful for your support sandmann0086
  14. Hi! I am looking to change the tempo of the project after having recorded audio in it without changing the audio. I am fully aware that I need to SMPTE lock them, then change the project tempo, then unlock them again I am talking specifically about four regions (on a total of three tracks) . With one of those regions this is not a problem. But the other two regions change every single time I change the project tempo, despite being in SMPTE lock. I make the tempo slower and they stretch. How is this possible ?
  15. Hi! Whenever I access an empty kit in the drum machine designer I get a kit that has one instrument loaded in it. This seems to be the default empty kit. When I click on the little wheel no that particular pad to "CLEAR PAD" it does not clear the pad. I am unable to empty the kit. What am I doing wrong ?
