  1. I just got this:- http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_micscreen.htm £84.00 & excellent build quality JJ
  2. Cool! That makes perfect sense. I've been using Logic for 5 years & hardly ever used a side-chain function! (D'oh!) Apart from your Sculpture/Es1 suggestion of course! Thanks again for such a quick response! JJ
  3. Hi David, No! I had nothing selected as a side chain source. So I have misunderstood the concept. I thought the side chain filter was an integral compressor filter. Is it then purely for filtering a side chain input from a channel or bus? If so, what might that source normally be i.e on that channel or bus? Showing my side-chain ignorance here!! Thanks for the prompt reply! JJ
  4. Hi Guys, With respect to Logics compressor - extended parameters, mentioned above. Activity mode offers: Off, Listen & On, presumably to activate, audition or disable the side chain filter. Why then can you only hear the effect of the filter with 'Listen' selected & not 'On'? The manual as mentioned, is very sparse relating to this function & only states that 'Listen' is an 'audition' facility. I have consulted the forums search function, Davids book, the manual etc.. but I just can't find an answer. If anyone has it, I would be most grateful! JJ
  5. Thanks for the response Guys! Doing it for both mixing & A/B'ing. I'll give it a go & see what happens! Thanks again! JJ
  6. I was wondering if shoving an SM58 next to a Rode NT2 between a pop screen & an acoustic shield would have any known diverse effects to either recording of the same vocal performance caused by reflections etc..? The question really is: Is this a big no no or Yeh, some do it all the time? Cheers Folks! JJ
  7. A yellow box has appeared between 2 markers. I can't select or delete this box or drag other markers over it to conceal it. Any ideas what it might be? Cheers JJ
  8. I experienced something like this. I had a Plug-in (Vintage Warmer) across the output. Removed it & all was fine.
  9. Hi! I am unable to record an Audio track & a Mapped Instrument track at the same time! Record enable is selected on both tracks & both tracks show normal input levels. When recording is complete, only the Mapped Instrument shows a region. I can record a normal instrument track & audio track at the same time with no probs. Also, the audio track records normally when the mapped instrument is not record enabled. Any ideas? Thanks in advance J J
  10. Thanks for the reply CCT. I have achieved all you suggest. My problem is once the kick pad is reassigned to play a kick drum note on its own channel strip (Mapped instrument-Cable 2-Channel 2) & I select say, an EXS object in that strip, when I select record on that strip, the kick pad plays the original note & not the one I changed in the 'new mapped instrument.' I have changed the cable designator, but changing the channel designator does not appear to have any affect. I must say it's not easy to articulate my issue here as I am quite a stranger to the environment window. I have been deep in the manual & Davids book. With trial & error, I'm sure I'll get there. Thanks again. JJ
  11. This is how I have set my electronic kit up & it works well. Anyone know how to assign each drum to its own channel whilst keeping its mapped instrument assigned key? I can assign the individual channel but when record is enabled on that channel, the original key plays, not the mapped instrument selected note! Thanks JJ
  12. I have just plugged the DTXplorer in to Logic for the 1st time. Davids instructions have allowed me to get great results from the LP8 samples & synths if all the drum sounds are played into one track. I want to send individual drum sounds to their own tracks. Do I have to create multiple Mapped instruments to ensure the output notes are as I have requested them? I'm sure there was a post about exactly this, but now I need it,I can't find it. Any help much appreciated! JJ
  13. The Apple Loop browser offers info such as Tempo & the Key of each loop. On investigation, regardless of the designated 'Key', they are all in 'C'. Is this right? JJ
  14. All very helpful! Sounds like a pre could/should be added to my set up. Budget issues - Not a problem! Thanks again people! Jeddah James
