  1. You were right about the usb-midi interface. I did have some strange sounds at first, but at least I have output and I now know how to get it. Result
  2. Hi David, sorted. Many thanks for your patience and your expertise
  3. output is routed via the X8's speaker output sockets straight to the input sockets of the monitors.
  4. Initially I add a track and choose midi is that correct, or should I be selecting software instruments?
  5. Correct, Listening to the audio through monitor speakers
  6. Hi David, I selected the UM 1 port in the inspector. I'm monitoring via logic, looking at the midi in and midi out
  7. Hi David, "no joy" = I play my keyboard, nothing is recorded and therefore nothing is played back Now putting my nose back in the user manual because I know it must be my fault
  8. Hi David, still no joy I'm using Logic Pro 8 does that make a difference?
  9. Cheers David, Ill check that out in the morning
  10. Hi facej, thanks for the reply. where do I find the track inspector and the Port
  11. Hi All Can anyone help pleeessse My set up - Roland Fantom X8 - Apple Mac OS 10.5.4 using Logic connected together with Roland UM1 mk2 midi interface so MIDI is setup through Utilities/Midi setup, run Logic Pro, Click new track, click external instrument, this gives me a blank track. from there nothing in and nothing out What am I doing wrong?
