  1. Seems this thread has turned into a thing... hahaha. Welcome everyone
  2. Awesome.. Thanks, David... As an aside, I notice you're using aif instead of wav... is there a benefit of that in Logic?
  3. Hey folks. What is the anchor in this picture?
  4. So does that mean a region-less area of the timeline or a space like below...
  5. Simple question that I can't seem to find the answer to. I understand the benefit of removing silence for gating and bleed issues. In Logic, is there a performance benefit (plugins, etc) to having the regions all cut up?? Tom
  6. Yeah for sure.. Again, there was a LOT to like in all of them. To be honest, Reaper is SUPER good too. I even liked things in Pro Tools. Pro Tools, however, just has way too many limitations (voice limits etc) and doesn't play well with my NI S88Mk2... this was an immediate game-breaker for me. I'm highly invested in the NI universe with K13 Ultimate and my board. (actually Reaper has the best integration with my S88Mk2 with its ReaKontrol add-on) I suppose it doesn't really matter at the end of the day and you just find what you personally like the best.
  7. @dragonwind and @glenn lancaster - thank you both. I really appreciate it. There were things to like about all the DAWs I tried for sure. But I'm very happy with my decision.
  8. For the record, since you keep saying it, I didn't attribute anything to anything other than the M1 architecture rocks. Now we're on the same 'page'.
  9. I have no issues with anything you just said. My comment was in reference to how we look at RAM and our requirements for it from a performance perspective. Testing has shown ALREADY, that these machines PERFORM much better than higher spec'd machines with intel architecture. Plain and simple. And that's good enough for me. Have a great day.
  10. Who has said that? I certainly haven't. If you read my original comment carefully (I'm sure you did), you know that I used the word EFFECTIVELY. And that is absolutely true. Its how the architecture is handling the RAM that is making it so good. There is a reason that stock M1 machines are outperforming 64GB ram monster Mac intel machines...
  11. I'm not going link diving... But there is a fella by the name of Mark Payne on YT (with Logic Pro to boot)that did enough testing to make me believe there are significant differences. Numerous technical articles from testing, etc. Its out there if you really want to see it. Edit: My comments are limited to music production... I don't know about other areas nor do I care to.
  12. I own an M1 mini... while I agree that "it's going to do away with RAM" is silliness, the M1 chips are just an altogether different beast. I believe its fair to say that they (Silicon chips) will change the way we look at RAM and our requirements for it. 8GB on silicon is effectively 16GB - 24GB on intel. Plenty of internet testing done already to check this out. Apple has something really special in this new tech. And yes, the M1 will absolutely smoke your 2012. Tom
  13. The way to bounce an individual stack is to create an empty MIDI region in the top layer of the stack and bounce in place. Hope this helps... Edit: Doh... saw that someone posted similar already.
  14. Well, obviously, you should be looking at M1's going forward since that WILL BE all Macs in the near future. Thats a known. Of course, if you don't HAVE to upgrade right now, delaying will give you the best possible chance to have all of your 3rd party plugins working with the silicon machines. Or, at least, the best possible picture of what things look like when it's time to upgrade. But literally everything that I bought for my windows machine at the end of last year (NI, fabfilter, SSL, Waves, etc) are now working on my M1 machine. And working REALLY REALLY well. Tom
