Re: Varispeed Recording

Let us know how you get on! I'm a fan of Varispeed as an effect, mostly on vocals. It's also been handy in helping me reach those impossible high notes... used in only a spot or two, one can get away with it. I'm a relatively recent convert to Tusk-ism, too, so all the more curious how far you might...

Re: Logic Pro and Mac Mini?

I'm very happy with my Mac Mini/M1. I've had various issues with Logic in the months I've been working with the new Mac, but via this forum, I've been able to troubleshoot nearly everything. I can't say any of my issues are to do with the Mac itself in combo with Logic. Certain plug-ins that aren't ...

Re: Your Favorite Electric Guitar VST Topic is solved

the ample guitar plugins are great; (i have the "LP")... but it's all i have (so nothing to compare it to); i like playing it, and usually add logic's pedalboard effects, or the amp plugins. for a lot of people, what they use is what they 'like' (for example, someone who uses one particul...

Re: What's the best way to start fresh with a full-up project?

Fisherking, Stratquebec - thanks to both of you. Slowly it's making sense and coming together. Now, I'm STILL having the "blooming" problem that I mentioned in a separate thread and i've watched the file size for one of the Projects jump from 1 to 4GB while importing to this new version of...

Re: What's the best way to start fresh with a full-up project?

Thanks for this... looks promising!!
I was seeing all sorts of plugin, panning, volume etc options come up in an Export window, but not with the Import window. I'll take a look at the Apple page and try my luck again. (After the second half and before the next match!)

Re: What's the best way to start fresh with a full-up project?

Sounds easy enough! Thanks! Will effects and settings transfer over when I import? (I should know all this already, but...) you will find options; to import plugins, effects, the content itself, automation... choose what you want to retain, and you should be good to go. Heya - I'm not sure where/ho...

Re: What's the best way to start fresh with a full-up project?

Again, thanks. I used to do this sort of thing in Pro Tools all the time, but I seem to be much better at making messes in Logic, so my steps forward are now often taken with caution!

What's the best way to start fresh with a full-up project?

What I mean is, I have a song that's thick with tracks - audio, MIDI, samples etc. I've done my best to consolidate/clean up/delete unused tracks etc, but what I'd like to do at this point is start fresh. The song has become quite the albatross. I'd been having lots of issues with crashing and slow ...

Re: Downgrading Logic for compatibility on older iMac

My old iMac is also a 2011 - I *think.* I had it partitioned to be able to run Pro Tools 8 via Snow Leopard and El Capitan for Studio One. Not sure if there's a reason my Mac guy didn't want to go higher. I do use the Sampler all the time... making up for all the times I didn't bother in the 80s! My...

Downgrading Logic for compatibility on older iMac

I'm heading back to Berlin first time since the pandemic hit. I have an older iMac there, with El Capitan on board. Is there a way, through Apple, I could get an earlier version of Logic that will work with OS 10.11? Otherwise, is the Sampler available on earlier versions of Logic? I can't remember ...

Re: Auto Punch (aka HAL 9000) trying to ruin me!!

That sounds like part of what's going on. Any idea why, when recording an Instrument track the other day, Autopunch added 20,000 measures to the song?

Re: Auto Punch (aka HAL 9000) trying to ruin me!!

I can do all that - I do use Autopunch sometimes by choice. I just don't understand why it seems to self-activate at times when I don't want it to, and I don't know why it sets a range I didn't specify. And with that said, I don't understand how to keep it from coming on when I don't wish it to.

Re: Auto Punch (aka HAL 9000) trying to ruin me!!

I don't generally work from templates. I wish I could better describe my problem, but that's part of the problem! I assume Autopunch is meant to behave as the user wishes, but my generally intuitive way of working really don't work with Autopunch, and neither can I make enough sense of the seemingly...

Re: Auto Punch (aka HAL 9000) trying to ruin me!!

Screen Shot 2021-06-27 at 3.03.36 PM.png Apologies for the vague screenshot. I posted that to show that my song had been extended - thanks to Auto Punch - by tens of thousands of measures. Here's a screenshot of my current Prefs. If I'm remembering correctly, when I've had Autopunch turned OFF in P...

Auto Punch (aka HAL 9000) trying to ruin me!!

Maybe it's eternal User Error on my part, but I do NOT understand Auto Punch in Logic. It seems to have a mind of its own as to when it comes on and where it wants to start and end. The song I was working on today needed a quick keyboard bit on the final chorus. I started recording, but saw Auto Pun...

Re: Can't export MIDI files

You are a hero! Thank you so much for this. Best I can guess is that in my recent mad flurry of file deletion/consolidation etc (I was also one of the recent victims of "blooming files" and spent days reducing my 1- and 2GB files down by hook or by crook...), I maybe renamed the MIDI track...

Re: Can't export MIDI files

Curious! And thanks for further investigation. Yeah, this bass line was recorded from a synth into my Scarlett interface. The Scarlett is still a functioning part of the equation on my end - still sending MIDI Out to my synths etc. The note length may be simply my having set all notes to such via MI...

Re: Can't export MIDI files

I'm attaching a zipped version of one of the MIDI files in question. It's a Logic session, but only contains the MIDI file for a bass track. I'm hoping it'll open on someone else's end, but am much more curious if anyone has luck exporting it... I'm also including a screen shot as suggested. Wolf ba...

Re: Can't export MIDI files

Selecting MIDI Region - which I'd always do when exporting a MIDI file - isn't making a difference. I'm not getting any warnings at all - regarding MIDI events falling outside the region etc - and these regions are quantized and thus all fall within the beginning of the start time. It's baffling, th...
