Stream audio from logic to a remote computer

So internet speeds are plenty good these days for a fast Screenshare / VNC over the web. This opens up tantalising opportunities for using a laptop as just a node to make edits to projects that live on a beefy studio DAW. Problem with screen share of course as there's no audio. This can be alleviate...

Re: Waveform overview for audio stacks.

Yes I imagine that would turn the developers off, because there's pitfalls and performance issues related to bouncing a mix just to get a waveform. But when you're actually using logic hands on with stacks, it becomes clear you'd be happy with something rather than nothing. For a solution than doesn...

Waveform overview for audio stacks.

I see a lot of people deterred from stacks because you can't see where anything is with the stacks folded up.

It would be a simple fix to just have the stack show the waveform overview from the 1st audio track in the stack so there a rough idea what's going on inside.

Re: Track Stack nesting

+1. There are frequent scenarios where you want multi-mic stacks to sit inside sub-group stacks. Or e.g multilayerd kick stack that sits inside the DRUMS subgroup stack. Stacks are combination bus routing and folder organisation. One just needs to look at Ableton's implementation to see it done awes...

Re: Select of Remove overlapping audio regions

I hear you! :( But I can't think of a better/quicker way to do it. Maybe Edit > Select > Overlapped Regions (Shift-O) can be of some help if you would rather work one section at a time? Oh nice I missed that one actually! Better than hunting for those dashed lines. I think a combination of that, an...

Re: Select of Remove overlapping audio regions

My main issue with overlaps is that I can't see some of the regions (or portions of regions) that are on the track, and that may in some case be playing back! Huge no-no for my own personal workflow. When I get a section like that the first thing I do is choose Track > Other > New Track For Overlap...

Select of Remove overlapping audio regions

Ok so I'm a no overlaps guy, colleague loves his overlaps and whenever I get a session back there are always sections next to cuts with Extra overlapping pieces of audio laying underneath the playing regions. If it's all playing nice, no harm, but when I want to start warping, looping, chopping, gro...

Logic needs this asap. Let's face it, adding code to filter the list would probably take an hour.

Alternate Versions can't find Sampler Instruments

Anyone else getting a bug when loading alternate versions where certain sampler instruments are reported 'Missing' ?
They're definitely there, and indeed a quick fix is just to reselect them in the EXS24 window under the folder thats created for the track.

Move regions by samples or ms?

One of the long time frustrations of working in Logic with some plugins (like UAD) is that if you ever track anything when there are any of those particular plugins on the master, PDC no longer works correctly for the recording and those new tracks will be out of time. I usually try to remember to m...

Re: What do you hope or want what will happen in the new Logic X Update?

- Waveform preview for Track Stacks (can just show audio from one of the nested tracks to avoid CPU overhead for mix down) - Editing of frozen tracks. Acts like a 'bounce in place' that is grouped to the original track so cuts/moves/copies happen to the bounce and original. (useful for collaboration...

Controller Assignments far too easy to mess up.

The Controller Assignments window is long overdue for an overhaul. Apart from the usual frustrating limitations, I've now also discovered a real doozy of a design flaw. Since opening logic after chasing which USB port my controller was plugged into, I now find all my assignments (100+) are set to li...

Waveform preview for Track Stacks.

It's great to keep projects tidy by creating stacks for multitrack audio, but frustrating to have to unfold the stack to see where the audio is. It doesnt need to show a mix down, we should just be able to choose one of the tracks in the stack as the 'audio preview lane' just so we can see where thi...

Re: Recovering lost autosave with time machine.

Ok I figured it out. By navigating to Autosave folder inside project contents and entering time machine and going back notch by notch until the autosave files appeared, I was able to recover the Autosave. Just need to restore the whole project file to a new location, open it in logic and boom, it as...

Recovering lost autosave with time machine.

Although I'm glad we finally have an autosave feature, it really sucks if you accidentally chooses 'Saved' and your autosave is gone forever. I'm in this predicament, but it occurred to me that my time machine should have a copy of the autosave files before they were overwritten/deleted. What files ...

Any way to turn regions into midi notes?

A college often sends me tracks to work on that have all drums parts as audio regions (1 region per hit) and I usually like to replace a lot of them with EXS24 or rompers to have access to my go-to stuff and take advantage of multisample variations and ADSR envelopes etc. In the past I've bounced th...

Re: Sluggish GUI???

It really it the biggest let down for logic. Once a project starts to become substantial, the sluggish response makes editing slloooowwww. If it were that the priority was put on the audio engine, i could understand that. But it's the same with nothing playing. I've always been a logic guy but I had...

Re: Logic not syncing Microbrute properly

Not sure how the USB on micro brute works but if it's just a standard external midi track, make sure the delay setting in the instrument parameters is set to 'Auto Compensated Delay Offset' . Also in the old days logic used to be prone to midi feedback issues as all ins and outs are always enabled. ...

Expert Sleepers - Latency Fixer

thanks, that's exactly what i needed!

I could have sworn there was a way to select a single region in a group by holding shift or command in the old logic?
Turning off 'editing(selection)' and back on seems to play havoc with transient markers and quantise.
