Re: Contacting Logic ... no luck :(

when you rework ONE cue, not everything else after that particular cue falls apart :)
in logic, you need to re-edit all the "in between" tempos everytime you make a miniscule change to a single cue

Re: Contacting Logic ... no luck :(

Digital Performer doesn't do that. Sorry. I have listed off already what DP can do. ps - if it does do that and I need to know how, please share your info. https://www.admiralbumblebee.com/music/2019/11/23/DP-Chunks-Blow-Your-Mind.html chunk is a "sub project" part of project (think of it...

Re: Contacting Logic ... no luck :(

hans zimmer uses Cubase and cubase doesn't have that feature. Hans also has an army of people to do the boring stuff, to be fair :P just saying that if cubase didn't do it for zimmer, likely Apple won't for the average joe. I request this exact functionality via feedback ever since Digital Performe...

Re: Contacting Logic ... no luck :(

Digital Performer - Chunks, is how that is done, and it's the only DAW that does it.

Not here. Guess my Macs are too old.

I did that with the 2018 Mini, i think it needs to be HDMI 1.2 to work in PCM?
Generally 10y old macs have HDMI 1.4 and it's new enough to support uncompressed audio - unless it's nerfed by apple, which is also a possibility.

Ah. Ok. So how do you address these from Logic ?

set HDMI as the output in logic, and it behaves as an 8-channel audio interface, do some channel IDing to assign correct HDMI channels to speakers - voíla :)

Re: basic help in surround

Ideally, if your Mac has HDMI, you should connect to a surround receiver and speakers. For this to work, Logic would first have to encode into Dolby Digital, which it does not do. You need to use an audio interface with multiple outputs. HDMI can carry 8 unencoded PCM streams (so up to 7.1), but th...

I replied to them today, looks like they really want to pin this down. That's more response than i ever recall getting about anything regarding logic pro

Re: Plug-in Delay Compensation broken with external side-chain

this is exactly the scenario i mentioned in my previous comment: The only thing that doesn't work well is if you have a sidechain processor on bus and you add a latency-inducing plugin after. Also Bounce in place. If you don't add a latency-inducing plugin after side-chained plugin, it works fine. s...

Re: Plug-in Delay Compensation broken with external side-chain

idk what you guys are doing but i tried slapping soothe on a summing stack, fed by a BUS, and it's in perfect time. Automation also seems to be in -perfect- time no matter what i do. The only thing that doesn't work well is if you have a sidechain processor on bus and you add a latency-inducing plug...

Re: Plug-in Delay Compensation broken with external side-chain

well automation works fine? I can load DS1mk3 + ProQ3 very high linear phase and automation stays sample perfect.

I could make this insanity routing (all ProQ3 are Very High Linerphase - 17000 samples of latency (300ms) and everything is kept in time.

Pro-C2 which is sidechained is also in time.

Re: Plug-in Delay Compensation broken with external side-chain

a lot of DAWs have PDC quirks, just different. or they have different quirks. you pick the one that has least annoying for you. for me, logic does the trick 90% of the time. sometimes i manually nudge PDC, i rarely need it sample-perfect, it doesn't bother me as much, so i keep using Logic, because ...

Re: Not enough Thunderbolt 3 ports...help!!

I don't think it would be an issue. I'm running my UFX+ on thunderbolt 2 through a dock, and also my NVMe drive.
I have both docks connected directly to two ports on the M1, CalDigit TS3+ and OWC Thunderbolt Hub.
The whichever is plugged in first also takes care of charging

a single NVMe SSD drive will fully saturate a single Thunderbolt controller.

Re: Not enough Thunderbolt 3 ports...help!!

Caldigit Element, or OWC Thunderbolt Hub. Both also charge your laptop. The thing with intel macs is you have a single controller per TWO ports, so performance is already compromised from the get go. On the M1, it's one controller per ONE port. i use OWC thunderbolt hub on M1 and it works full speed...

Re: Why does logic bounce mixes that sound lower then real time?

Ok... one last question. Does that mix level determine how much dynamic range (in use of bits) you get from your bounce? If my output looks super low, am I only getting a portion of the bit depth? It would appear to my untrained eye, that the normalizing happens to the FILE, after the mix/bounce, n...

Re: Why does logic bounce mixes that sound lower then real time?

This post raised two questions that I'd be curious to have answered by those more knowledgable than me. (7.6 billion or more) 1. Would things like compression or other dynamic processing react differently in a real time vs. offline bounce. (I would hope not, but that seems possible) 2. Someone ment...
