Re: Velocity

Select the region and in the Region inspector, click the "More" parameters and raise the "Dynamics" parameter to a value > 100%.

Thanks, David!

There is so much of Logic Pro I still need to learn. Is it just a matter of reading the manual to learn more?

I recommend my book to get started, then we can do Skype sessions to go further.

Can you give more details as to what exactly cannot be followed in my instructions? What has changed?

Sounds  like you've been trying to use the keyboard in the piano roll window.  I don't think that will record.

Re: Cycle Mode Question???

It's a skip cycle (Logic will skip that area on playback). Command-click it to return to a regular cycle.

Re: Software instruments wont record? Topic is solved

Everything looks right. Opening the musical typing window and hitting the right letter keys (A, S, D...) on your computer keyboard should record those notes.

If that fails... check your Environment cabling? In the Click and Ports layer?

Re: Phase correction between DI and amp inputs

I would just do a percussive sound at the beginning of the performance for example (or at the end), then in the Tracks area, zoom in on both audio regions, and drag one so it matches the position of the other. No need to open an audio editor, no need to use your ears for this, just do it visually.

Re: Phase correction between DI and amp inputs

Why not do this visually? Zoom in on the waveforms and line them up.

Re: DRUMMER question

You don't have to do anything, but there's not a single way to process drums "right." It depends on your mix, the instrumentation, the genre, the sound you're going for. All things the person who dialed in those EQ and Compressors wasn't aware of.

Re: External Audio card- can it solve my problem?

No, you do not need another Mac to avoid this issue.

Choose Record > Low Latency Mode. Does the latency disappear?

Re: External Audio card- can it solve my problem?

Audio card = audio interface (same thing).

I see that "software monitoring" is off in your audio preferences... how are you monitoring what you record?

Re: Software instruments wont record? Topic is solved

Did you turn on Autopunch mode by any chance? Can you show a screenshot of your Tracks area and Control bar?

BTW You can (and should) keep the MIDI Channel parameter to "All" in your inspector.

Re: Vocal processing

The whole mix is lovely though, so open and deceptively simple. I think you make an important point. You can't consider how the vocals sound without considering the whole mix. The reason the vocals sound so good is because the whole mix sounds so good. In fact, it's not just about the mix, it's abo...

Re: region automation key command

Thanks, David. Yes, track automation.   Option-clicking with the automation select tool adjusts all automation on the track from that point forward.   Sorry I meant with the Marquee tool. That's how you select all the track automation inside a region. Then you can easily just drag the whole thing u...

Re: Importing hard panned mono files

Where are those files coming from? Sounds like they are interleaved stereo audio files? Note that you can click-hold the input format button at the top of the channel strip in Logic and choose either "Left" or "Right" to playback only the mono signal contained in the Left or Righ...

Re: Recorded audio switching from mono to stereo

Note that for stereo audio regions, Logic displays a single waveform at small vertical zoom levels, but two waveforms at higher vertical zoom levels – which could add to the confusion.

Re: Summing stack and external midi device?

If tracks output audio, then it should not matter if they contain references to audio or MIDI objects; it should work to create a summing stack containing them.  You should be able to create a summing stack that contains both audio and MIDI tracks (that output audio).  Correct. Using Logic's termin...
