Re: How to Remove EQ's

You can also click on the left side (a "powerbutton" symbol will appear when you hover the mouse over it) to turn off the EQ.

Re: Do 'Apple' listen?

I think they would not add just "one lone" "jazz drummer", but if they would add jazz, they would add three or four styles. I can imagine those to be "bebop", "dixieland", "swing" and "experimental", something like that. But, IF they do it ...

Christian :idea:bermaier Yep! Thanks. I indeed last opened this project with a different interface.

Re: Copy/paste between projects doing weird things. Topic is solved

It is not a good idea to have more than one project open. Strange Things (© MMXX Christian Obermaier ) are long known to happen, as far back as Logic 8 and probably before that. The selective track import feature is the reliable way to copy stuff from other projects. Copy pasting between projects is...

Bug or just a "personal" glitch? No Input Monitoring button in track header Topic is solved

Well, the Licecap GIF shows it: when I enable the Input Monitoring button on the track header, the header expands to the right as if it makes "room" (which is not really needed, as I have zoomed the header to max width), but the button refuses to show up... it is there on the channel strip...

Re: Logic Pro X ES Synth Out of tune?

The Mod wheel is not about pitch (unless you program your software instrument in that way). It is the Pitch Wheel (or -lever or other pitchbending contraption) you need to be looking at. Turn on MIDI monitoring in the LCD and watch out for pitch bend data. The wheel could be malfunctioning (happens ...

If you change the parameters, it is no longer a preset, and it is all yours.

Okay, I can do that. Tell me though, if a track is not enabled to "read", the fader shouldn't go anywhere right?

No, not right. There could be MIDI CC messages (number 7 for faders) and they are read, just like MIDI notes, so they do not "read" mode.

Re: Strange looking waveforms

That looks like either noise or DC offset to me. This is what I get if I boost a very quiet recording.

Re: how to get cymbals and toms and hats to all play together in drummer Topic is solved

But you can achieve it by making a second drummer track (copying by option-dragging the track header is my preferred method), and enabling only the toms (or only the cymbals, depending on what the "main (wo)man" does).
And this because two drummers can do it!

Re: Control a filter cutoff with the velocity

Haha, I actually had a Poly 800 (when I was 17) - it cost 1700 at the time, where all the other polyphonic synths were more than 3,000. I delivered a lot of newspapers for it. And for what? No velocity sensitivity even.
And now it's a software freebee.

Re: Control a filter cutoff with the velocity

Ah, OK, that shows my age I guess - I assumed that (software) poly synths in general had one filter through which all the notes are sent, like all the synths that I could afford in the eighties...

Re: Control a filter cutoff with the velocity

Hmmm... but what velocity will a poly synth with modulation routing use? It'll probably not apply different velocities to each note of a chord either, unless it has a separate filter per voice - and which synth has that?

Re: Control a filter cutoff with the velocity

You can use the Modifier MIDI plugin for that - no need for any modulation setup on the synth itself. All it needs is that the parameters are learnable. Insert the Modifier plugin (it's a MIDI plugin - dedicated slot above the instrument), set the Reassign To field to Learn Plug-In Parameter , next ...

Re: Stereo Out peak level fluctuates on playback

Thanks very much for explaining this so clearly - makes total sense. Thanks. You're welcome. In the end I froze all of the tracks in the session (source only); I could not pinpoint the track with the alternating round robin samples which was causing the peak levels to fluctuate, so freezing all tra...

Re: Is there a flanger plugin with full (automatable) control over position of the effect? Topic is solved

Send your signal via bus to an aux, flanger on the aux on full depth (100 % mix on Logics'), lower the aux fader to roll off the effect, automate the pan on the aux.

Re: Stereo Out peak level fluctuates on playback

Thanks for your reply. As mentioned above I think it's the alternating round robin percussion samples I am using in this session which is causing the peak levels to fluctuate during each playback. Why would you need to pre-fader freeze every track (as opposed to post-fader) to get a consistent peak...

Re: Stereo Out peak level fluctuates on playback

What Christian said. The only way to get a consistent peak level is to pre-fader freeze every track AND to NOT use any modulating effects on the auxes. It is not really worth the effort though. Christian was spot on: the engineer just wants to make sure there is some headroom and never anything over...

Fuzzy mentions it very casually but categorically, and he does the latter because it is true. A plugin DOES NOT affect the audio file (so not "it SHOULD not affect...", no, "it DOES not affect...")
