Re: alchemy - global rescan? Topic is solved

thanks for the reply but am back in business! found a youtube video that pointed out deleting this from Home>Music>Audio Music Apps>Plug-in Settings>Alchemy: Alchemy_Preset_Ratings_And_Tags.db

deleted, re-opened logic, and all is well.

alchemy - global rescan? Topic is solved

today, seems every preset i go to open in alchemy asks to rescan...

"Sorry, unable to locate (preset name). Would you like to rescan your presets?"

i would, but it's doing this per preset, not as a single event. is there a way to do a 'global' rescan of alchemy presets?

did you try triplets suggestion above? the usb-c adapters should not slow things down; are they 3rd-party adapters? all the same? and, perhaps, time to call apple...

Re: big sur - A WARNING.

it's actually 4: 39 , so... too long to watch 8-) ok, i will watch it later, but right now, am tempted to wait. my experience currently on catalina is perfect (or, perfect enough), and not sure i want to mess with it (you should see some of the workarounds i've been thru on OS betas). still... i wil...

Re: Auto Pan?

what about duping the track, and, on track 1, removing every second note, then on track 2, removing every first note? and pan them each where you want (ie LC, and RC). obviously, if there's a lot of notes, and/or the phrase doesn't repeat often, this could be a grueling task. but i do this often......

Re: MIDI latency with USB-C MacBook 2019

I noticed it when I had the adaptive limiter or multiprocessor on, so I took that off, and still there is latency. I just tried a brand new project with no plug-ins and 6 midi tracks (all Classic electric piano) and the latency was better , but still there. Do I need more than 16 GB of RAM? I did t...

Re: MIDI latency with USB-C MacBook 2019

definitely check your plugins. i know (for example), that if i have a certain plugin effect on a track, with a certain setup... i get that same sort-of issue (an almost-16th note delay) on notes i play... on any track. it's more likely that then the usb-c ports or adapters. does it happen with no ef...

Re: Mouse/Cursor disappears using Logic

try resizing the cursor in system preferences>accessibility>display cursor. check that 'shake mouse pointer to locate" is checked, and try moving it around fast...is it there? and have you rebooted? often 'fixes' these random quirks. as a last resort, you could reset nvram (google for your part...

Re: Logic Pro X crashes every time I try to bounce a project to audio

what happens if you change the location you're bouncing to? or try changing settings (ie bounce to wav, or mp3, or...). something. and have you rebooted?

Re: a new 2020 iMac and new Logic 10.5 Topic is solved

what triplets said. you may find a lot of stuff migrates without issue, and you can sort out any problems after the migration. for instance, if a plugin needs to be re-authorized, or if, for some reason, you needed to copy over a presets folder from the older mac. you'll best know after you're on th...

Re: Newer MBP Advice for Migrating all Data

fisherking.....Ty! So, i have an SSD external drive. I should put a copy of the TM back up on there and then migrate it to the new MBP? set up that drive with time machine, then back up directly to it from your current mac, at the last minute... then you can migrate from the external to the new mac...

logic will NOT be happy if you change elements of those folders outside of logic.

there are some folders i cannot get rid of (for YEARS). they have no content, but refuse to be deleted. but do your organization within logic's plugin manager...

Re: Newer MBP Advice for Migrating all Data

migration assist, from a time machine backup, should do it. you may need to re-authenticate some 3rd-party plugins (if they're tied to the hardware address of your previous mac, or... just because)... when you first power up the new mac, you'll have the option to connect the TM drive, and move thing...

Re: Stereo Kicks, Snares (claps) and Basses for Pop/Rnb now?

stereo? do you mean big? i hear a lot of mono sounds; tight, punchy snares, tight kicks, deep, heavily-compressed basses. you can add (as atlas007 suggested), space around the snare, or do a left-right bass thing, but i'd keep the kick mono, always. more than stereoizing things, good eq & compre...

Re: Safe to upgrade to macOS Catalina yet?

i'll probably update on my non-essential laptop and wait on the studio machine for a month or two so you can keep your moustache i'm running all the big sur betas on my macbook (i don't use that for logic or FCPX); it's mostly fine, a little beta-y in places, but i can do everything i need). plus w...

Re: Safe to upgrade to macOS Catalina yet?

for any machine its generally a good idea to TRY to update to a spare drive. Clone your main boot drive to a spare drive and update it and try it out fully...keeping the original boot drive untouched. Some OSX updates are less invasive then others making this step less necessary but I personally wo...
