Re: Musescore into Logic

Yes, you can. Just use the 'Export' feature of MuseScore.

Controlling Logic through OSC

I'd like to control the tempo of Logic from another application (Max) via OSC. For example, with Reaper it simply works by sending a message like [/tempo 115] to port 8000, but I'm unable to find the correct setup and format with Logic.
Any help much appreciated.

When I open an existing project, it's immediately flagged as "dirty".
Save and re-open doesn't help > flagged again.
But the undo history is empty.

Anyone else having this problem?

Re: Imported midi automatically snaps to grid

I would believe that Logic compensate the audio delay accordingly. Perhaps exporting from PT in audio then import that into Logic as audio, and then convert it to MIDI inside Logic, if needed. Since those are percussion, it should be relatively straight forward. But the converted MIDi will again be...

Re: Imported midi automatically snaps to grid

Again, here is an example demonstrating the issue. In the midi file a note of "KICK MIDI" starts at 729601 ticks. With resolution 9600 we can calculate: 729601 modulo 9600 = 1, meaning that the note starts 1 tick after the beat. However, in Logic with lower resolution 960 this corresponds ...

Re: Imported midi automatically snaps to grid

You can view the midi file in text format using this online tool http://www.flashmusicgames.com/midi/mid2txt.php It shows a resolution of 9600 which is 10 times higher than Logic internally. So strictly speaking, Logic's midi import is not correct. But I wonder if it really matters in practice.

Re: Instrument Track to receive MIDI info from fixed input/channel

Input channel selection can be done with MIDI FX > Scripter > Channel Filter.

Re: Changing VST On MIDI Track

Yes, seems to be an issue with the midi channel.
The list editor shows that notes of Choir 1 are on channel 1 while notes of Choir 2 are on channel 2.

Re: Imported MIDI not playing Topic is solved

Replace the instrument with a Logic synth, do you hear sound? Yes, it does. I did an export from Finale of a single trumpet part using a piano as the instrument and I can hear it. If I export that as a trumpet using the Garritan samples of a trumpet, THEN I cannot hear it. It appears to be the Garr...

Re: Problem with capturing MIDI data

I've once tested the MIDI FX Freeze plugin and noticed similar problems.
In my experience it's just unusable.
Also, the download page seems not available anymore.

Re: How transmit MIDI clock from middle of project?

Pattern Mode (Project Settings>Synchronization>MIDI) should do the trick.
In Pattern Mode Logic sends a 'start' command if you play from anywhere,
while in Song Mode it sends a 'song position' and 'continue' command.

Re: Send a MIDI start message to an external synthesizer?

I guess the problem can be solved with 'MidiPipe' triggering Start from the Continue message.
In the 'Message Factory' tool, set Continue (251) as trigger and Start (250) as message.

I don't think the problem can be "fixed".
With MTC there is always a sync delay at start (restart) for technical reasons.

I agree that a preference would make everybody happy. Well, except that if we had preferences for every single feature then the Preferences window would quickly become daunting and unusable. Maybe there should be an advanced set of preferences with an "easy mode" which always returns all ...

do you like to have always live mode ON as me? Absolutely yes. Personally I can't see any reason why it should ever be off. The way I look at it, Logic is a composition tool. So if I select a track it's to record something. "Duh!!", right? +1 For me it's the most annoying "feature&qu...

My advice is to Log into the NI Knowledge base using your Email Maschine registration and read the topic labeled as "How to record MIDI from Maschine standalone in Logic Pro" I just found this topic in the NI k-base in the link below. http://www.native-instruments.com/knowledge/#/?q=Masch...

I've never considered that application because I thought it was mainly good for electro beats and loops, not for timeline-oriented compositions. But maybe I'm wrong? Conventional linear composition can be done in 'Arrangement View' but MIDI editing and automation is somewhat limited compared to DAW...
