Cleaning up Mac

Hi, My iMac seems to be running slow. The hard drive is almost full so that could be one reason. There are a whole bunch of plugins too, many of them that I seldom use now. Some of them may even be outdated for the current OS.I tried to upgrade to Big Sur as my iMac qualifies for it but I ran into a lo...

I would place the audio onto a stereo audio track and click hold its input format, choose Left, bounce in place (don't include volume/pan), then choose Right and bounce in place again.

How is it possible not to include volume/pan in this case.I don't see an option to include or exclude them.

Re: Converting a stereo track to 2 mono tracks?

Here's a cleaner workflow to split a stereo file into two mono ones, that does not require bouncing: 1. Select the audio file in the Project Audio browser. 2. Choose Audio File > Copy/Convert File(s). 3. Click the Stereo Conversion pop-up menu and choose Interleaved to Split. 4. Save the file under...

Reinstalling & updating plugins.

Re: Converting a stereo track to 2 mono tracks?

Is it really possible to use a mono plugin only on one side of a stereo track? Never tried that before! Yes. A mono plug-in allows you to process the left and the right as two independent mono sources. It's like having one mono plug-in for the L signal and another mono plug-in for the R signal, so ...

Re: Mojave or Catalina

While I decided to stay on Mojave,I just made an online purchase from Apple for Final Cut Pro.They sent me the redemption code but the App Store is asking me to Update to Catalina in order to use the code & download! I emailed them & I'm hoping they would make the code usable on Mojave. Is th...

Re: Converting a stereo track to 2 mono tracks?

Well, honestly the reason I started this thread was that I have the Slate Digital ML 1 mic which has many mic models on it.So was wondering if I could use 2 models & get best of both the worlds on a single stereo track. You could try using multi-mono plug-ins to process only the Left or Right si...

I didn't realize Channel EQ defaulted to Stereo, even on a Mono track.

Yes that's strange ! Maybe there should be an option for a Mono EQ.

Re: Mojave or Catalina

You could always create a dual boot system and try Catalina out before you commit to updating Mojave. If for any reason you feel the need to keep Mojave and still want the features of Catalina you can leave both on your system. If you don’t feel the need to keep Mojave around (or vida versa) you ca...

Re: Mojave or Catalina

Do not do it unless you know for certain there is a feature you need or wants in catalina and that everything you own will run on it... If you want to keep using any apps that are 32bit-only..then forget about Catalina for now. All my plugins are upgraded from 32.I was just hoping to get some bette...

Mojave or Catalina

Sorry for being another one that questions this here.I have pretty decent Mac but have been hesitant to upgrade to Catalina. One of the reasons is that I'm in a middle of a project. All my plugins are upgraded so no worries about that. Will Catalina give me better speed & handling of plugins? Any d...

Apogee Duet & UAD Twin Finity 710 Preamp-Volume drops

Hi,I sometimes use a UAD Twin 710 Finity Mic Preamp to go into the Duet & then to Mac.I set the Duet input to +4db to by pass it's built in preamp. However I see a sudden drop in the volume for mic signals.I have to set the 710 preamp almost to Mac or 3/4 to get a decent volume level. Are there an...

Re: Using external preamp on recorded vocal track with Logic.

First, nothing can be done to restore what hasn't been recorded in the first place. To set up an external effects loop, there's two ways, provided you have the actual ins and outs necessary for this. You can use the IO plugin in a track or aux. There you can set the destination output (3 or 4 or bo...

Re: Using external preamp on recorded vocal track with Logic.

Thanks guys. The recording was done using a cheap mic so I thought that rerouting it through the preamp might help.I have Izotope plugins so maybe that would help.

Either way do let me know how I should route a track through external effects ,be it vocal or guitar track, using Apogee Duet. Thanks.

Re: Midi keyboard recognition issue

Thanks I will check on this Midi Monitor. You're welcome. Have you tried it yet? Not yet.I was a bit hesitant to download it hoping the issue could be fixed internally. But I would definitely check in on that eventually if the problem persists.Regarding the Control surfaces,I don't see the keyboard ...
