I kind of want to call BS on that technique... I imagine he probably plays tracks in live from a synth/soft-synth, then manipulates them as needed from there. I mean, the idea of having the synth right there but instead "tuning" the track... right! That said, I imagine that they do sample ...

Hey, I read this post, then that tutorial, and I decided to write my own tutorial. It takes a different angle, first introducing the basics of sampling in Logic, then recreating the functionality offered by typical samplers, within Logic, then talks a bit about how to get more out of ultrabeat and e...

Some illumination: Having your samples and sample libraries organized is key in achieving a quick and seemingly effortless workflow. If your collection of samples is a mess already and exceeds, say, 100 EXS Instruments, then I highly recommend Redmatica's EXSManager. I haven't really imported a samp...

I'm dumb: saving channel strips referencing exs24 instrument

SO, I like to use channel strip settings rather than individual instrument patches as the basis of my preset library, but I have a serious problem recalling such channel strips that include my own exs24 patches. My workflow is: I have a folder in my library called "copy" and build all my p...

I'm adding my own sampler preset. Has f#1 + a#1 grouped (so in GM world a CL hat shuts off an OP hat). I can't remember how I set the envelopes, but I've found it a very natural-feeling preset to play. Volume is also set to a reasonable level if you're using normalized samples :)

I'm imaging a plugin that is technically a wrapper--just as you might wrap an au in a vst wrapper if your DAW doesn't do au, so would this plugin just "wrap" up an existing plugin. However, instead of doing it as a form of conversion, you would do it to get added functionality out of the ...

Does this exist? VST wrapper + envelope/automation

I wonder if you could wrap a vst/au with an "effect" that has an adsr envelope, where the envelope functions on a given parameter of the plugin?

My method of layering drum tracks (no magic here)

Copying my post from: http://www.robbiesullivan.com/blog/?p=28 A big way to increase the dynamic range of a song is to switch up the sounds being used, for instance in drums. A singer will be husky on the quiet parts and soaring in the chorus--why can't we do the same in the drum domain? But there a...

Whenever you see an obscured brand on a tv show it is because the studio sees that as an opportunity to make some advertising cash (product placement). They can't expect apple to pony up the bread if they are already placing the products, so they cover up the label. It's not because apple doesn't wa...

Sweep FX

This forum has helped me out a lot as I learn logic and I thought I would give back a bit. To create sweep FX ("risers," what have you) a la Dr. Luke / Stargate / DJ Frank E, set up a noise generator on pink noise and an autofilter on bandpass w/ resonance around 90%. Automate volume + cut...
