Re: HD meter and slow loading

I transferred the project onto my computer HD and it seems to be loading very fast now so it must've been that the Lacie Rugged external drive is too slow. I didn't realise that the RPM of the drive would affect the way it performs in Logic, I thought as long as it was USB3 or Thunderbolt it would b...

Re: HD meter and slow loading

Ok good to know, it is actually formatted as ExFat. So are you saying that Lacie Rugged are too slow too mix directly from the drive? Should I only use SSD drives from mixing from?

HD meter and slow loading

I am having issues with slow load times in Logic Pro and the HD meter showing overload. When I drag a audio file into my project I get the spinning colour ball for about 10 seconds before playback and the HD meter at the top fills to full and shows a blue dot. I have a very new (2018 model but bough...

Re: Easiest way to split stereo tracks to two mono tracks SOLVED

Here's a little hack if you have a stereo file and you want to split the left and right into separate mono channels e.g. if you have an interview with the two speakers recorded on L and R channels. Using the same method above, copy the stereo file into another track and click-hold the input format b...

Re: Automatically adding fade in & fade out to regions

I would also like a feature/keyboard shortcut to add fades of x length to the start and end of a region. A very tedious process in doing voiceover editing.

Re: pre-roll during playback won't go away

Since it took you three years to make fun of him, I figured I'd wait 2 more year to say he was actually wrong. Playback pre-roll is not under File>Project Setting>Audio. It is under Preferences>Audio>General>Playback pre-roll (uncheck).

Re: Red and Yellow peak indicators. What do they mean?

Ok so the yellow colour is just to indicate that I'm nearing 0 dBFS, I'm not clipping in the 32 bit realm or something?

Re: Red and Yellow peak indicators. What do they mean?

Here's something that confuses me. In the attached screengrab the Peak Level indicator is showing a yellow value which as I understand from the above explanation means is is over 0 dBFS in the 32 bit realm, however the value is -1.2. So I don't understand how/why it is saying I'm over 0 dBFS but the...

Post-production workflow improvements

Logic has always been geared toward music mixing but I have been using it as my main video post-production DAW for a few years now because it has some benefits over Pro Tools. Firstly the video engine isn't as CPU hungry as Pro Tools which needs minimum of 16GB RAM (32GB recommended) to run the vide...

Re: Select track on region selection!!!! Topic is solved

I'm like 4 years late but I can't believe I only just found out you could do this. I wish it was selected by default when you open a project.

Multiple sidechain compressors

I'm working on a podcast project and I'm having trouble with a sidechain compressor quirk in Logic Pro X 10.2.4. I have a backing music track that I'm trying to apply two separate sidechain compressors to, one is controlled by voiceover track to duck the music when there is talking, the second is co...

If you're using Logic Pro X you can use the same method but you access through Function>Folder>Pack Take Folder. See this YouTube tutorial for a walkthrough:

Re: Toggle between Sample Editor and Main Window Topic is solved

Hi thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the shortcut (It is V by default) but no that not quite what I'm after. I don't want to open and close the Editor just switch between quickly. There is some commands that only work when the Main window is selected (i.e. it has a blue line around the border) such...

Toggle between Sample Editor and Main Window Topic is solved

Is there a shortcut to switch between Main Window and the Sample Editor (or Piano Roll etc)? I know how to cycle through windows with Command- ` but I'm talking about something different. I usually have a Mixer window open on one screen and on another I have the Main window but if I'm using Flex edi...

Re:   Topic is solved

Multi-channel files are not usually used for multi-track recordings. Just like you wouldn't use a stereo file to record an oboe on one channel and a clarinet on the other, you wouldn't use a 12 channel file to record 12 instruments. You have to record 12 mono files if you're recording 12 different ...

Another thread bump as I too would like an answer and thought the people after answers in this thread might benefit from my question asked in another thread that may be a way to go about organising the drum sounds if it gets answered... http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9565...

Adding a folder of Drum Banks to Ultrabeat

I have a lot of drum samples that I want to organise in Ultrabeat and be able access quickly and easily. The way that I would like to do it is to add a folder of drum banks in the drop down menu where the setting and presets are. Note: I'm not trying to store a drum preset/setting, I know how to do ...
