Re: Upcoming Monterey ( Mac OS 12)

I'm interested in the new "Shortcuts" feature, not sure how it works exactly. If it allows us to create macros in Logic Pro then this could definitely be a game changer... https://www.apple.com/v/macos/monterey-preview/a/images/overview/shortcuts_editor__chdpbpmze9py_large.png Here's a vi...

Re: TIP: Scripter Keyswitches

are you talking about the behavior of the articulation set or the behavior of the scripts on this thread? but articulation sets do end up sending the first articulation OUTPUT section if no articulation is present in the note. You should be hearing something, so maybe share a project to show what yo...

Re: MIDI/Step Sequencer controllable modulation sources

Scripter can sit on any instrument channel. If you need a script that addresses multiple instrument channels then you pretty much have to use multiple scripts which are coordinated in some way. But anyway the OP request is not exactly clear to me but sounds like non trivial and time consuming script...

Re: Articulation sets and Vienna Ensemble Pro

Opencore is not related here The aux track trick is an undocumented feature of logicpro that works great in certain circumstances. If you like that approach then use it! It is limited to 16 midi channels per vepro instance so does not make use of AU3. In that case use the AU2 vepro plugin. I haven’t...

Re: Logic devs: you have a safety problem

Ps if you experiencing something similar but you can hear a tone in it, a specific frequency such as from feedback or other known audio properties, that is not actually “the blast from hell” that some have been reporting. Seperate problem. Still ice9 will cut off the audio if it exceeds a certain th...

Re: Logic devs: you have a safety problem

How does a plugin break the audio engine? I don’t think that is possible. An audio plugin can edit the audio buffer. So a plugin may have generated the blast sound data but that would be one very dumb plugin if so. But possible sure. I don’t fully understand your description of what you think logicp...

Re: Logic devs: you have a safety problem

by the way, the only way the fuse works is by making sure that all the rest of your project is keeping the levels under 0db. If you routinely set your audio and instrument levels to something less than 0db always...then its simply a matter of ice9 detecting +2db and it does it cuts off the audio bef...

Re: Logic devs: you have a safety problem

Its been a year or two since it happened to me, but what I can say is that when it happened I didn't have a lot of stuff happening....I think it was a particular release of LogicPro that gave me problems, don't remember which now. For a while there I thought it was being caused by VePro, but then it...

Re: Logic devs: you have a safety problem

Ice9 can still be obtained. Here is another link for it in case anyone doesn't have it: https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=145531&hilit=ice9#p757888 SigMod is a great little product, but for this particular issue keep in mind that it imposses a small amount of latency for...

Re: External MIDI out of sync with Logic

use the external instrument plugin instead of a raw external midi track. I believe that plugin is more in tune with PDC happening in the mixer and may do what you want, and especially if you are monitoring the audio from your external synths using the plugin to return the audio into the mixer. As a ...

Re: Upgraded to 128gb of RAM and 12 Core

UAD plugins use external hardware for DSP, so you might want to clarify that. That is certainly an option to take heat off the main DAW cpu also.

Re: Upgraded to 128gb of RAM and 12 Core

For the dummy track, create an external midi track, then right click on it and choose reassign from the pop up menu. Under reassign you’ll see a bunch of submenus for various environment objects but there is one menu item called NO OUTPUT. Choose that. You’ll then have a track that is not assigned t...

Re: Upgraded to 128gb of RAM and 12 Core

You can still use the big plugins on mixdown no problem with 12 cores. It’s only a factor for the live channel you are recordings. Your 3.33ghz is not much less then what I have and I can mix a lot of stuff no problem. I haven’t come across an instrument plugin yet that it can’t handle for recording...

Re: Upgraded to 128gb of RAM and 12 Core

The ram is not related here frankly. If you use a lot of sample instruments for full orch work you might appreciate it but anyway unless the ram is faulty in some way it’s not an issue and that would be one of the last things I would check. Piling a bunch of plugins through one core at buffer 64 is ...

Re: Upgraded to 128gb of RAM and 12 Core

Your issue is almost certainly related to live mode which piles all plugins of the signal path you are recording to onto a single core

Also make sure to create a dummy track and reassign it to NO OUTPUT, always select that before hitting play unless you’re recording into a track
