Re: Converting old .LSO-files to .MID

Hi beren57 - I expect people wanted to help, but on downloading your file, saw (as I did) there was nearly 50 (!) projects in there, and decided to not spend the rest of their evening doing multiple conversions... Converting the odd one or two projects as a favour is one thing, but expecting someone...

Re: Converting old .LSO-files to .MID

I wonder if anyone would be able to help me with a similar problem? I have an LSO file made on logic express 4 (I think?) way back in 2002 that I'd like to open in logic Pro X. I have no way of getting back to the machine I created it on and it seems like a logistical backflip to set up a machine i...

Re: Old logic files

Logic Pro/LPX will open Logic files from Logic 7.x or later without much problem. If you have files from earlier Logic versions, you likely won't be able to load them directly, but that will be the case now anyway (assuming you are on Logic Pro X).

Re: [SOLVED] M1 Mac mini and USB MIDI

Does this also apply for the M1 iMacs, or is this only for the M1 laptops? Weird I've heard so many people talking about these machines since they starting getting into people's hands, and I've never heard once about this issue...

Re: multiple outputs with aggregated device with logic pro?

Logic will see however many outputs the selected audio device has. So if your aggregate device has, for instance, 6 outputs, Logic will be able to have output channelstrips sending to each of those (6 mono, or three stereo output channels). You can route whatever audio channels you want to whichever...

Re: [SOLVED] M1 Mac mini and USB MIDI

The M1 Macs don't supply power via USB? Why haven't I heard this all over the Mac forums..? Does this mean *no* USB devices that aren't separately powered work on M1 Macs?

Do you have a link to articles on this?

We've been converting third-party presets into Logic format patches for exactly this purpose for some time:

Re: Routing and Output Channels question Topic is solved

The I/O plugin is for sending stuff out and getting it back in on the same channel (over physical I/O of course). There are lots of reasons why you might want to send audio to various outputs (and not care about it coming back) - maybe you have multiple outputs going into a summing mixer, or a surro...

Re: Brown wood in 10.6.2

You're in Garageband mode - turn on the "Advanced Tools" in the preferences.

Yes, LPX from 10.x onwards does this when you have Logic running in the simplified Garageband mode, you probably didn't migrate your Logic preferences over so it's been reset to an easy start up configuration.

Stick with your old system, don't click on links in emails or visit dodgy sites, and you'll be fine.

Re: Is this the right way to set up Zone/Modes in Controller Assignments?

A controller has a state (or more accurately, pressing buttons etc selects various modes in Logic which is it's "state". For instance, if you put the MCU into plugin edit mode, then the plugin parameters come up on the knobs, and turning the knobs affects those plugin parameters, instead o...

Re: Submitting and tracking bug reports

Thank you for that valuable information. I've been to the Feedback Assistant page and it's possible to create reports there even without being a paying developer. They have a macOS general section, however there is no category for Logic Pro or for pro apps in there which leaves me wondering whether...

Re: Submitting and tracking bug reports

It's actually not called Radar anymore internally at Apple, it's called "Feedback" (although I expect many devs still internally refer to them as Radars just out of habit) , but yes, if you have an Apple Developer account, you can submit Feedbacks/Radars and get a tracking number etc. And ...

Re: Logic Pro 10.6 Plugings missing

I'm sorry, but no. Yes, you did indeed show the instruments plugin list, not the audio FX list, where the metering stuff is, so I wouldn't expect it to be there in that screenshot even if it was "working" as expected. If you have a look on the David's screenshot, you see that Metering sta...

Re: Controller Assignment Bug

When you have a working controller assignment config, create a backup copy of the cs prefs. Then, at some later date, if your assignments go funky, all you have to do is trash the cs prefs, and copy and rename your backup prefs, and everything will be working again. I have a script to do this so I c...

Re: System overload 2020, v. 10.6.0

There's no gurantee that loading patches won't interrupt the audio, as the loading process is entirely down to the plugins involved, and some are better/faster/less instrusie than others (eg, it doesn't take long for a delay plugin to initialise and set a few parameters, but loading a heavy Kontakt ...
