Re: How to match imported audio to beat grid

When the tempo is out, even fractionally, the beginning of the song might sound in time, but it will drift and the time differences will get bigger the further into the song you go. When you line up the beginning, always check that it's lined up at the end too, and if not, you have some work to do. ...

Re: What MIDI CC numbers can I use in Logic

The MCU uses CCs and note messages in the main. Don’t forget that there are lots of options - you could have 128 buttons all using one CC, say 40, button one with a value of 0, button 2 with a value of 1 etc. Then you have a dedicated port so you can multiply all the potential CC and note messages a...

Re: Logic Pro incomplete

Perhaps you are running in "Garageband mode". Made sure "Advanced Tools" is enabled in Logic's preferences, otherwise a lot of Logic's more pro functionality is hidden, as a way to ease new users into the program.

Re: Automation quick access bug

If you're not in automation mode, you have no visible automation parameters in the track list. AQA only works with the currently selected visible automation parameter on the selected track (as far as I remember the behaviour anyway) - so yes, you need to have automation visible, as it's this that de...

Re: Automation quick access bug

AQA controls the currently selected automation parameter in the track list. If you are showing Volume, your AQA controller will control volume. If you choose a different automation parameter to show, it will control that instead.

Is this not happening for you?

Which Logic version are you using?

Re: MIDI Controller setup with Kontakt

Generally speaking, you can't easily do both things - be a control surface, and also be a generic MIDI controller, unless the controller has specific features for doing that. If you want to use it as a generic controller, you can remove it from the control surface window, which now means it's MIDI m...

Re: Sudden Crashing

Hmm, possibly. I don't use it, but I recall there is some server or plugin component that handles some new feature for colouring the channel strips, so that might indeed be the culprit. Worth exploring to see whether it goes away once it's removed, for sure...

Re: MIDI Controller setup with Kontakt

Depending on the instrument, it will either be set up to respond to stand MIDI CC for those things, or you can do it via automation parameters (and therefore using controller assignments for map controls on your keyboard to those Kontakt automation parameters). I'd start by checking the documentatio...

Re: MIDI inputs change message

It's really nothing to worry about. Logic is just informing you of MIDI port changes - something is creating a virtual MIDI port. You can probably turn notifications off on your computer if it bothers you.

Re: Instrument Morphing/Instrumorphing? Topic is solved

Alchemy can morph between sounds using the morph pads. Can't watch the video, there there are many ways to "transition" between sounds, from simple crossfading, through the various synth modulation features, through effects such as vocoding or impulse convolution to blend one signal with a...

Re: Sudden Crashing

Yes, it's a VST/AU plugin by the looks of the name, and it's that that seems to be crashing. Check both plugin folders and/or the Plugin Manager in Logic and see if you can find out what it is - hopefully removing it should stop it crashing, and it can't be that vital for your work if you have no id...

Re: I CAN'T MOVE THE PROJECT END MARKER FURTHER?!?! Topic is solved

Yep, the project limit is a bar limit, rather than a time limit. I assume this is something to do with the data structures that hold the timing/position info relative to the event/timing resolution - I know it's been extended from time to time when the audio engine got upgraded...

Yes, if you have multiple edited regions, you'll need to smpte lock these in time so they don't shift when you change tempo.

Re: I CAN'T MOVE THE PROJECT END MARKER FURTHER?!?! Topic is solved

If you're not doing MIDI, just lower the tempo... same number of bars, but much longer project time...
