Re: Vintage B3, presets

If you split the keyboard, have the lower split sending on the MIDI channel that triggers the lower manual or footpedals, with the upper split sending to the MIDI channel controlling the upper manual. You can split using the keyboard's split feature if it has it, or you can do it in Logic if necessa...

Re: Sf2 fonts failure in Logic Pro X

I just checked here, and Sampler in 10.5.x still converts SF2 to EXS files just the same way as the old EXS24 did - any SF2 files in your sampler instruments folder will show up in the menu, and the first time you select it, the SF2 is converted to an EXS file - you then have to reselect it from the...

Re: spacing out regions...

Lower the tempo?

Although I'd probably zoom out to see the entire timeline, select all the regions except the first one, and move them back a bit, then deselect the first of the selection, move them back, deselect the first of the selection, move them back etc...

Re: Project Cleanup via the Project Browser

Project alternatives are still "in" the project file, and reference the same media. Do not delete media from your project folder. Files in your session are in your session, so they are not "unused", even if you can't hear them. they are used because they a referenced in your sess...

Re: Missing Auto saved and revert to

In nearly 30 years of using Logic I've never once had a situation where I loaded a project and it didn't come back the way I saved it. Are you sure you didn't accidentally save the project elsewhere somewhere along the way, and you just reloaded the first earlier version of it, but the actual up-to-...

Re: Audio meters move when they shouldn't Topic is solved

Plugins are pre-fader. (This is a fundamental concept in the mixer.) If you turn the fader volume down (in this case, via automation), the volume is only changed after the fader in the signal path. The meter on the first channel is pre-fader and the volume of the audio signal passing through it at t...

Re: AUTO SAVE

A frequent cmd-S habit as a rule generally never lets you down.

I pretty much commit any time I've done anything I don't want to lose (regardless of the app), which is often every minute or two.

Re: Trying to Open Logic X without using 3rd Party Plugins - AU Scanning Nightmare!!

Hmm, Waves seem to be a bit stingy in this regard, many devs let you have at least two activations. Waves do give you a second activation, but only for products in a valid WUP. In any case, they offer a way to move licenses between computers which might help - detail here: https://www.waves.com/supp...

Re: Trying to Open Logic X without using 3rd Party Plugins - AU Scanning Nightmare!!

I'm not sure why you have a bunch of Waves plugins but they are unlicensed. Surely you can just license them and they'll just initialise silently/normally? If you don't want to use them, I'd suggest uninstalling them. You can't have installed plugins on your system that Logic doesn't see - apps are ...

Re: Stock plugins rescanning upon startup

That looks like it's detecting new plugins installed (or updates/changes to existing plugins), or isn't correctly saving the AU cache (possibly due to permissions issues), so the plugins are detected but not saved into the cache.

Re: How do I persuade Logic to auto-detect the bank names of banks other than zero?

Use scripter. I did do, when I was first exploring options in the early days of Scripter. While it's do-able, it's not very elegant (I haven't looked at your example, BTW), and it still doesn't negate my desire to have bank/program change functionality built properly into the external instrument ob...

Re: Trying to Open Logic X without using 3rd Party Plugins - AU Scanning Nightmare!!

If you want to turn Core Audio off and skip loading plugins, run Logic, then immediately hold the Control key while it's loading. When prompted, choose not to launch core audio. You'll have no audio, but will be able to load your project. I'm sure you can use Waves tools to authorise your Waves plug...

Re: How do I persuade Logic to auto-detect the bank names of banks other than zero?

Yes, the world has moved on since these features were developed for Logic 1.x. Unfortunately, the environment has not moved along with it... *sigh* It would be nice to have an external instrument plugin (with or without audio too) that also included bank/program change support with custom bank chang...

Re: How do I persuade Logic to auto-detect the bank names of banks other than zero?

I found the voice list: Yep, generally speaking, at least with reasonably modern gear, a bit of googling will usually give you the patch names list, and a bit of copy/paste and sometimes some text editor cleanup is all you really need to do to get the names in, as mentioned above. There are other m...

Re: Gain Stage, Or Normalize ???

Get the mix levels exactly as you require, and export - then you have responsibility to know what you need, and to confirm you've got it there. Don't rely on some extra process post-mix changing things out of your control beyond where you've set things to. Normalising almost never makes sense for im...

Re: How do I persuade Logic to auto-detect the bank names of banks other than zero?

Okay, so what you're saying is that Logic actually didn't retrieve the patch names from the instrument itself. (Well, superficially it certainly seemed to.) No. By default a multi-instrument is probably populated with standard GM MIDI patch names, so perhaps that's what you're seeing. Is there a wa...

Re: How do I persuade Logic to auto-detect the bank names of banks other than zero?

Logic doesn't "load" names from synths (it could do this a long time ago with SoundDiver, but that was pre-OSX). So you've probably installed a multi-instrument that already contains the names from bank 0. Check the multi-instrument object in the environment and see if there are patch name...
