Re: Have you Taken Your Logic "Stupid Pill" Today?

Well, it's not Logic Pro, but just as stupid. One winter, to have something to do, I built a little 5 watt tube amp kit. Easy as pie. When I got done, I spent about 30 minutes going over the diagram and my wiring to be sure I didn't make a mistake. It all checked out. Moment of truth. Plugged a spea...

Re: folder size vs disk space used is a problem

Ordinarily, the "space used" value will be slightly larger than the "file size", but not much. I think aliases and symlinks are an exception to this. Space Used will include any extended attributes associated with the file. Not sure why your files would have extended attributes, ...

Perhaps the "bug" is in the documentation? i.e. software is working as designed, but manual is wrong.

Thanks again, cheers.

I wonder if you could use a side chained effect to "duck out" one track when there's signal on the other? It's not midi, but the effect would be the same.

It's impossible to help with that little amount of info. Patches work as expected as far as I can tell. Otherwise it sounds like the XY problem.

On another note David, what is "save as performance". (feel free to move this discussion)

Re: Channel Strip Settings not saving Sends

10.5.1? I create a new empty project, create a software instrument track, one instrument, one bus send, save as channel strip setting (not Patch in the Library) and sends aren't recalled here. Yeah, I was referring to Patch. I never use save "channel strip settings". Sorry if I confused t...

No, it is not, don't worry, I get the same behavior here.

That's odd, because it works properly for me. Just lucky I guess. :)

Re: Channel Strip Settings not saving Sends

Thanks! That wasn't easy to find. You have to hover over the left area of the channel strip next to the Channel Strip Settings button, but only in the Main Window's inspector. The blue arrow doesn't seem to exists (even when blue and active) on the channel in the Mixer window. Regardless, having ac...

Re: Channel Strip Settings not saving Sends

This is all I'm seeing; t.ly/eC2K Read the blue triangle is only visible when the Library Window and the Main Inspector are both visible in the Main Window, but still cant see it. You may need to click on the gray area to the left of the settings box. If you hover the mouse over that area, you'll s...

Just off the top of my head, couldn't you just create the master project, import from version A, create alternative, import from version B, etc.?

Mmmm, I just tried the "Sampler->Factory->Orchestral->Strings->Cellos Staccato" instrument and it's pretty much instant attack. Not sure what "built-in cellos" you're using. Have you tried the Sampler version?

Another issue is that if the midi data contains a CC-7 (volume) that overrides automation's volume curve.

Re: Best way to deal with backups (and backups of backups)?

I keep all my projects organized under a single "main" folder. When I'm ready, I use rsync to sync that folder to another external HD. It only copies new or changed files. Fast and efficient. For example, I have a script with this command in it: rsync -auvl /Volumes/<workhd>/MusicProjects/...

Why isn't that best accomplished on headphones?

Remember, sound waves traveling through air (from speakers) interact with each other, possibly partially cancelling frequencies, and result in a different sound. Sound waves from headphones DO NOT interact with each other.

Summing folder - missing pan knob Topic is solved

Just noticed this today. I have 2 new projects created with 10.5.0. Both have summing folders and (almost) identical options under "Configure Track Header". But for some reason, Logic has decided to omit the pan controls from one folder, and include it in another. No matter how wide I make...
