Re: Projects, created on a non-M1 behaving strangely on M1

This may be a pain but I had a project that was screwed up ages ago after an upgrade and I ‘manually migrated’ it to a new project. I copied each track and each parameter, then moved either the midi file or audio file to their matching tracks and got it to work. My project was crashing and not overl...

Re: Anyone have a 24” Mac?

Thanks to everyone that posted on this thread. I’m in the middle of a project so I was squeezed for time and options. I did order the 24” with 16gigs. It comes in a few weeks. I have an old 27” for a second monitor but I may look at a Mac mini in the future. Glenn Lancaster brought up a good point t...

Re: Anyone have a 24” Mac?

Thank you for this. I didn’t think of compatibility (like an idiot)

I’m using east West Hollywood orchestra. I’ll email them and see.

Anyone have a 24” Mac?

It looks like I have to get a new Mac. On another forum here I was told I should get the M1 chip. I run fairly heavy orchestral projects with quite a few tracks (20+) I’m wondering if the new 24” Mac with 16 gig RAM would be powerful enough. My info signature has the description of what I have now. ...

Best interface?

Hi guys. Just looking for opinions (with reasons why) For what interfaces you guys use. I use usually one mic at a time so I don’t need a lot of channels. I might want 5.1 in the future but not necessarily right now. What do you guys use and why is what I guess I’m hoping to hear. Just doing some re...

Re: New iMac

I think I will wait. I didn't know new Macs were on the way (I guess I should always assume a new mac is on the way)
Thank you guys. Both good points.

New iMac

So I’m in the unenviable position of having to buy a new iMac. I use the 27” ones as they have more USBs and two thunderbolt (for extra monitors) I’m looking at the 3.3ghz 10 core i9 machine. That’s plenty more than I have now. But I have 24 gigs of RAM and I was wondering if 16 was good enough to r...

Re: Any tips on creating this modulation effect?

I would just get a kick or snare sound in Ultrabeat that’s close to what you want. Then spike a frequency in the low mids on the track eq and move it slightly left and right until to get what you want. I only pick ultrabeat because I got a bunch of knocking wood drum sounds in it trying to mimic the...

Re: Any tips on creating this modulation effect?

I've faked that effect with an eq spike and automate it to slowly sweep up. That and the LPF should get that sweep. If you're talking about getting the knocking sound that is being swept with the EQ and LPF an ultra beat kick or snare with a honking mid eq in it will give you that wooden knock sound...

Re: Setting the downbeat to a certain frame.

The second line is grayed out because that's for enabling the offset. As far as we know thus far, you don't need it, so don't worry about that for now. (It's disabled until you check the box to enable the offset, anyway.) Shortcut answer: the time in the upper left corner of your Display is what yo...

Re: Setting the downbeat to a certain frame.

I'm sorry but I'm still not getting it. This is my Display Screen Shot 2021-06-24 at 12.19.00 AM.png I want the Start of a bar right where the display says my playhead is. Which Bar Position/SMPTE do I fill in? 1 or 2? Also when i try to change the values in Bar Position the numbers jump around and ...

Setting the downbeat to a certain frame.

I'm doing a score where the shot has to be on a certain frame and I'm trying to make my downbeat start on it. I saw a video of Christian Henson do this but for the life of me it doesn't work when I try it. Any help is greatly appreciated as always. I looked at this and couldn't make it work for me e...

I had the same problem with Logic pianos.
It would start when I initiated Midi Chase.

When you step on the pedal does the display window change showing it’s at least receiving a midi signal?

Re: Sustain pedal not working with M-Audio Key Rig 49 Midi controller

Does the sustain pedal have a ‘phase’ switch on it? Sometimes I have to switch the ‘polarity’ (guessing at the phrase) to make it work. May not be the answer. Just troubleshooting. I’m also assuming the instrument your using sustains when the pedal is being used (as opposed to the vintage organs tha...

Best AAF advice, triplets.

I tried and tried and the only real solution was to cobble together a workflow using logic and pro tools (monthly subscription made it possible)

Re: How long do you all leave Logic and Mac going.

I usually have my Mac on and logic up and running a template in case I get an idea.

Same idea as leaving your guitar on a stand as opposed to a case

Just my opinion.
