Re: Select Next Event in Score Editor not working after Step Input

Ok, so adding some more specificity. I was having that issue in one project. I opened a new empty project and tried the same thing on a single region. In the new project, it did allow me to select notes, but I was able to get the behavior to reproduce after deleting a note. So, let's say we enter 4 ...

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

So here's another version of a simple sequencer...similar as above, but slightly different approach, perhaps easier to read. I'd be curious which one of the two some of you would prefer. var NeedsTimingInfo = true; var lastIdx = 0; //========================================== // ProcessMIDI callbac...

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Well actually no you’d need to modify the script some more to handle other midi event types. Not sure what you meant by "other var entries". I had to modify the script guts a bit to handle the bank messages. But in theory something very similar can be done. I have been able to sequence en...

Re: Scripter crashing LPX 10.3.2

I just upgraded to Sierra, couldn't handle all the crashing.  Here is a little video of what I'm working on, its not ready to share..if at all yet..  Basically a script that can play midi files in mainstage.  This is a GM midifile I got off the net somewhere just to demo it.. iMIJx5ntbR0 Man...plea...

Select Next Event in Score Editor not working after Step Input

Hello all, This has been driving me nuts, and I'm hoping that I'm just missing something. So let's say you're building a new part using the Step Input into the score editor. Create a region on a software instrument track. Command+Option+K, enter a few notes. Hit it again to turn off step editor. The...

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

So cool man! Thanks.

And really, in theory, this script should be able to send *any* MIDI message as long as it's entered as a new var entry, yes?

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Hey Dewdman42, just wanted to follow up to say thanks. I gave you a big shout out in my recent tutorial on this topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xj8El_K ... 1hw03c010c

And also, good call on needing an instrument. That solved it!

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Should work. Did you hit the run script button? I've been reading through the Effects manual, and your code looks correct...I don't know why it's not working. BUT, I did find a pretty useful workaround for future reference. In the Scripter Presets under Factory->Tutorial Scripts->9- NeedsTimingInfo...

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Dewdman42,

Ok, I actually do need a bit of help with the script that prints beat position to the console.

I've cut and pasted the script, and it's on a MIDI track with PC's, but no output to the console.

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Ah geez...never mind. Math in public.

I forgot to subtract 3 beats to get the previous downbeat.

*sheepish grin*

It works great man. Thank you so much. This is just incredible.

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Happy to help. FYI this is “javascript” and not “Java”. The two are very very different and it’s very strange the author of JavaScript chose to use the word Java, I can’t remember why, but if you’re going to try to learn it, you want “javascript”. I also want to say that javascript is capable of so...

Re: Can I trigger patch change from Playback?

Dewdman42, I just need you to know that you are so awesome. Thanks for taking the time to both write the script and share it. I have done every method of automating MainStage up until scripting, and all of them had pros and cons. I knew scripting would end up being the solution, but my programming c...

Re: Program Change via MIDI Scripter

Thanks Dewdman. I haven't messed with it since a few weeks ago, but when I was in there working with it...it seemed to trigger the beat clock at a totally weird time scale. I had Snoize MIDI monitor open so I could see when things were happening, and it was just all over the place. I couldn't get an...

Re: Considering changing from 44.1 to 48 (implications?)

A good way to think about it is like this: A sample rate is really more like an interval of time.  Have you ever accidentally played back a 44.1Khz file in a 48Khz project, without converting it? What happens? It plays back slightly faster, and at a slightly higher pitch...and the overall length of...

I’ll run some tests on flextime etc at a higher sampling rate and 48 and 44.1 when I get a chance.

Important to note though, the material must actually be recorded at the higher sample rate. Upconverting a file originally recorded at 44.1Khz gives no benefit.

Re: Considering changing from 44.1 to 48 (implications?)

Thanks guys. I don’t have a problem with latency tbh, but I do have a guitarist who needs a bit of flex timing. Well, quite a lot. Would I then have better results with flex time if I recorded at a higher sample rate than 48k, ie, less artifacts? A good way to think about it is like this: A sample ...

Re: Considering changing from 44.1 to 48 (implications?)

The only advantage to higher sample rates is in your ability to time and pitch stretch recorded audio, while maintaining higher fidelity in the stretched audio.  I record sound effects and foley at 96Khz, because I often manipulate the time and pitch of a file creatively for SFX design.  However, i...
