Hey,

not sure on the hissing issue...I haven't had that happen to date. Did you work out your other issues with the setup?

Hey Lounge Lizard, You sound like you are on the right track..although I'm perplexed why it isn't working. I'm on an MPC 1000, so that may make a difference I'm not sure. You say that you are able to control Logic from your Mpc, so that means your cables seem to be right (again, I'm not sure why it ...

Hey, Its pretty simple. 1 midi cable. Out of your MPC (A) to IN on your interface. Set the internal pad sound option on your MPC to off. On main screen of MPC set your Midi to 1A. That's it! Your MPC will act as a controller to Logic. Than follow my instructions above and your good to go. Good Luck....

Hey Lounge Lizard, I have spent many a long night trying to figure this out and I finally have, I think, found the best solution. There are two ways to do this. 1) Use EXS24 (Logics Sampler) -Setup your studio so your MPC is acting as the controller only. No need to slave or master. IOW, setup so yo...

Hey There, Again thanks for the reply. I figured out the best way to do what I want is to record my performance in the mpc using only 1 program. Save the program when I'm done. Import the program folder into the EXS instrument window and voila, all my sounds are there. Then record the midi data from...

Hey Guys, Thanks for the response. I'll give those a try. The reason I want to do this is because I like the feel and swing of the beats in the MPC, but I want to be able to edit each individual sound, like I can do in any DAW. So if on track 4 on Logic, I have a snare riff from my MPC, I'd like to ...

Record MPC Performance to Separate Tracks

Hi All, Good Karma your way if you can solve this for me  Okay here is what I'm trying to do. I grew up 15 or so years ago using Cubase (on the Atari). I'm also a Video Editor (as a profession). So I am used to creating music and editing video with the bars that go across the screen. Exactly w...

Hey Poppa Lars, Thanks a bunch for responding. I spent 6 hours on trying to get this right today with no luck, but I'll try what you said and see what happens. Sounds pretty "logic" al to me:) Okay here is what I'm trying to do. I grew up 15 or so years ago using Cubase (on the Atari). I'm...

3 questions about MPC 1000 and Logic Pro 8

Hi all, Well it's been a long time since I posted. Now on Logic 8, and just got the MPC 1000. Here's my 3 questions if anyone can help (David?) 1) I can't seem to get my MPC to act as a midi controller. I plug the midi out on the mpc to the midi in on the presonus firebox and no luck. I turn the loc...

Hey Guys,

Okay thanks for the info. I tried compressing it and that seems to help. I may just try and re-do the vocals and hope to get it in the one continuous take...

Again thanks for the responses, it's much appreciated!

Hey Vpunk, Thanks for your response. Okay, it was suggested to not do any compression since I'm sending the piece out to be mastered once finished. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but when I normalize it just seems to bump up the volume. So If I did it to both verses it would harbour the same result n...

How to get Vocals to be at the same level?

Hi all, Okay, just recorded my vocals to this song I'm doing. It has a 1st and 2nd verse. The problem is that I did both verses in seperate takes. It seems the 2nd verse is a little louder than the firse verse (I guess the way I positioned myself to the mic might have been closer). What I am interes...

Hey Kent, Thanks again for your response. Okay so what I am getting from you is to go to each individual track/instrument, and make sure the output does not exceed -3db. Is that correct? what about the master fader? Do I go to that as welll and make sure it doesn't exceed the -3db. Sorry for not und...

Hey Kent,

When you say keep the overall db to -3db, do you mean on each individual track in the arrange window, or the actual master fader?

Perfect guys, that makes total sense.

Much appreciated. I'm probably going to do 2 versions. One for me to mess around with so I can see what I can do.

Again thanks for the quickie replies!
