Re: Previewing .mid MIDI file with QuickLook not working

In fact, I seem to stumbled upon an entirely acceptable workflow, because VLC seems to terminate when I press any key or make a mouse movement. This means I can cursor down though a list of .MID files in Finder (Total Finder in my case with the visor locked), press space to listen to the MIDI file, ...

Re: Previewing .mid MIDI file with QuickLook not working

Digging through really old threads... If you still have that need to preview MIDI files and QuickTime 7 doesn't work on your macOS anymore, try VLC (it's free). it's not the same as QuickLook, I know, but you can drag and drop a lot of MIDI files and preview them. Here's how (you need a SoundFont f...

Re: Logic Pro X - Key Commands PDF List

Huh? I've just counted them and there are just over 170 shortcuts listed for Logic Pro X. A few of them are not specifically for Logic Pro X, but I think it strikes a good balance between covering a lot of options, while not turning into War and Peace part 2!

It would be even better if there was a way to export MIDI. Or maybe I just haven't found it yet!

Re: Installing Mojave on old Mac hardware

One other point. It may be worth your while waiting till the 24th when the full release comes out. The updater tool that this uses should automatically select which ever install is the latest.

Re: Installing Mojave on old Mac hardware

I'm not sure if the enhanced graphics in Chromaverb work or not. Hang on a sec... ...no! Looks like the fancy graphics are not showing up in Chromaverb. Still sounds pretty good, though! Obviously, I can offer no guarantees about this, but as I say, as long as you follow the guide carefully, and are...

That's what I thought until I discovered this guide...

The process is very straightforward and works like a dream. I even get full graphics acceleration.
I wrote more about it here...

Good news about macOS 10.14 Mojave

As well as the happy fact that Logic Pro X seems to work perfectly well in Mojave beta 10 and 11, there's the major fact that new AU plug-ins now appear to be incrementally added, avoiding the need to delete the Audio Cache and scan from scratch! I think this is a major breakthrough and the fact tha...

Re: Create living soundscapes with the Modulator in Logic Pro X using Alchemy soundscapes

Wow! That's really cool. I had already sussed out how to apply a sine wave from the Modulator to the Frequency or Resonance of a filter, boring stuff really! But the idea of applying two modulators to an X-Y control is really neat and I love the idea of introducing chaos into the precedings via the ...

Re: Where is the Drum'n'Bass?

Yes I've seen and tried those. I was just hoping for slightly more extensive coverage of Drum'n'Bass.

I've actually found about 100 items by searching "DnB" - quite why Apple didn't think to create a separate genre for DnB while they did for, say, Chillwave, escapes me.

Where is the Drum'n'Bass?

Is it my imagination or are there no Drum'n'Bass Apple Loops to be found within Logic Pro X? I'm slightly concerned about the missing category in the bottom right hand corner of this panel... Surely Apple could not have overlooked one of the most important and significant music genre's of the last 4...

Re: Dedicated Logic keyboard

If you decide to go down the skin route, beware and make sure that the skin offered has a layout that matches your own. For instance, I have an Apple British 101 key "Magic" keyboard with built in numeric keypad, and I can tell just from looking that the covers offered by the two companies...

Installing Mojave on old Mac hardware

If anyone has resigned themselves to not being able to upgrade to Mojave with its sexy dark-mode, and its other, less glamourous productivity improvements, you may be interested to know that a fine gentleman called DosDude1 (not the name with which he entered the world, I'll warrent!) has put togeth...

Re: Scripting Logic Pro X using Keyboard Maestro

The use-case for this macro was the fact that I need to scan my Plugin components and find out if any of them are made by the manufacturer "Slate".

Re: Scripting Logic Pro X using Keyboard Maestro

I'm slowly getting used to the Keyboard Maestro way of doing things. My first effort is a macro designed to be used with the Auganizer application. The idea is that I can easily step through the list of Plugin names, and view the "Show plug-in info" data for each item. It's just ⌥⌘↓ to act...

Re: What is "RavenKeys" ?

I've used Keyboard Maestro to speed up the process of inspecting the manufacturer name of each plugin. It's just ⌥⌘↓ to activate the macro, ↓ to dismiss the popup, and ↓ again to move down to the next entry. More details here https://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=138070&p=71...

Re: What is "RavenKeys" ?

Okay, no worries! I currently have about 350 plugins (mostly free or budget ones), but it's not a problem. I'm totally in control of it! I've just been looking at the page at http://slatedigital.com/our-plugins/ and I don't see anything I recognise, but I may be mistaken! I'll have to fire up Augani...
