Re: Logic Score

You all might find this little video interesting as a concept I thought would be great for Logic. Peter Schwartz and I even pitched it to the Logic People at NAMM one year.Sadly, it never got picked up. Dan' Magic Pencil - https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/188332230 Just watched the video - what a gr...

Re: Logic Score

See if this helps clear things up a bit. Apologies for doing this quick, but I had 10 minutes today and want to get something out there for you. F_FqGGMBVyw Great tutorial! Also @hmowday & @Greg Manning - I would bet that it is faster to do a really good lead sheet in Logic than in any other so...

Re: Score Editor: what Staff Style?

There are so many cool things in those bars, no way I could explain it all here. So here is an image - let me know if I missed anything and I am attaching the logic project so you can see all the settings I used in particular for triplets, sextuplets, etc..... Display quantize set to 32, nudge valu...

Score Editor: what Staff Style?

What Staff Style Settings and Division Setting would you use to create a Solo Instrument part for this?
Needs:
1/ 8th Note Triplets
2/ 16th Note - on quarter Notes ( ie 4 x 16th notes)
3/ 16th Note - on quarter Notes ( ie 6 x 16th notes) eg Beat 1 Bar 6

Re: Set subdivisions for different parts of my project?

Yes, subdivisions of the beat, particularly between eighth note triplets (/12) and sixteenth notes (/16). If I want to have two sections of my arrangement change between these subdivisions (or "feels"), the only solution I can devise is using the signature and tempo tracks to create bars ...

Re: Set subdivisions for different parts of my project?

It depends what the purpose of your need to change subdivisions. What David says above about changing the Division /16 or /8 etc in the Transport is true... globally but the way round it is via Beat Mapping manually. ie Tap in a Midi Template on a drum sound and use that as the 'grid' which your met...

Re: Score editor - Rhythmic notation (lead sheets / big band / drum parts)

... 1) You wrote the rhythmic accents on the low D or on the high G for the drums. However, if I have a situation similar to that of the example attached (lead sheet with low accent), I need to write the rhythmic notes further down but in this way the lines are visible ... is it possible to hide th...

It could be useful to Toggle on and off the Repeat Last Bar signs in the Inspector - also dragging in Notes - the option to make them Graphic Symbols not related to Midi - or Midi as they now are

Will this work for you.....? if not what specifically is incorrect or needed beyond the possible solution below. Screen Shot 2021-08-08 at 5.37.29 PM.png This looks spot on! - I'd be curious to know if the methods/procedure I outlined above is what you followed. It took me a good 15' - 20' of fiddl...

Re: Score editor - Rhythmic notation (lead sheets / big band / drum parts)

You can do something like this in Logic but it is kind of fiddly - not nearly as quick and intuitive as writing it in Sibelius ... Here is what I did: For Example 1: 1. Go in Staff Styles create a treble Staff Style which is just one midi channel - single voice. Select HIDE RESTS 2. Write in the rhy...

Re: Proposed Logic Colours Upgrade

Mistaken assumptions above led by me - apologies to Logic Pro X programmers ( who havent perhaps caught up with the threads here LOL) You CAN after all colour the notes in the Note Colour Palette anyway you want by selecting the note and using the usual Apple Colour globe thing to choose. I've no id...

Re: Can you automate the Metronome Switching on and Off?

Folks I found a BRILLIANT simple work around for this.... Suppose you want stop the click at end of the Project - find a point at the end of the final bar or note programme a ridiculously slow Tempo Chang e ie 5 bpm.. The click stops because you need to wait to tea time to hear the next beat

Thanks Atlas and to other respondents to the question..

@David - totally agree about 50 Shades of Dullish Brown ( is this a new racy novel? LOL)

Can you automate the Metronome Switching on and Off?

Suppose you are making a demo with a click recorded - is there anyway to switch the click off at a desired point while the track is running..? Apart from doing it manually?

Proposed Logic Colours Upgrade

Logic 7 had two vital features which have never been replaced: 1/ Lockable floating windows which could be sized very small ie perfect for keeping an eye on notes in a linked Piano Roll Window within say the Score Editor - ideal for working on single screen setups or lap tops). 2/ Much brighter vivi...

Re: Dotted Rhythms in Score Editor

How do I create a dotted rhythm from a tied rhythm, eg, an 8th tied to 16th followed by a 16th under a single beam appearing as a dotted 8th followed by a 16th under a single beam? Write out the rhythm by hand and post a phone snapshot - I am pretty sure what you want can be done by choosing the co...

Thanks, I'm still trying to figure out some things, but your answers, the article you suggest and some You Tube videos should help me to master this aspect of Logic Pro. Thanks again, I appreciate ! 1/Select the instrument regions in the Arrange window - click highlight however many you want to see...

Re: Velocity - Basic Question

Event List: Option-Shift-click (or drag) a parameter such as velocity or length to make them all the same. Piano Roll and Score editor: Option-Shift-click the Velocity slider. Or Option-Shift-click a note with the Velocity tool. Or, trickier but doable: Control-Shift-click-hold a note and start dra...

Velocity - Basic Question

When you have click selected a group of Notes with disparate velocities in the Piano Roll or in the Score Editor what is the quickest way to get them all to conform to the same Velocity?

Ideally by Key Command?
