Re: Any Point in Logic 9?

I think a number of presets were renamed over the years; so it can sometimes be a bit confusing when working on older projects, changing a setting and not being able to find the previous setting.

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

While I was doing that I found something else. When I changed sound from piano to organ on my nord stage the distance between the midi and the sound transient increased from 50 to 70 ticks. It seems like the nord has a built in latency when playing piano samples. The organ sound is not samples but ...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

OK, let's try to unpack all of this. There definitely IS some sort of problem but it's unclear to me where it comes from. There also seems to be some sort of misunderstanding of measurements which might lead to different expectations. And finally there is some stuff that doesn't make sense to me (ye...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

So your idea of audio coming in too early is not correct. It's the midi that is the problem. We don't know that; and it would be useful to make the check I described. Your second youtube video showed the re-recorded audio material slightly early as well so clearly there are some discrepancies in th...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

I wonder if this is possibly interface (driver) latency compensation going wrong. In other words: MIDI isn't recorded too late but the audio material is placed too early in relation to it. AFAIK this could be fixed with the "Recording Delay" setting. Unfortunately Logic doesn't seem to pro...

Re: 3rd Party Plugin factory presets database for Logic

I don't know if the V8 presets are actually compatible with the V7 plugin version. I only see the V5 presets in this thread. Here we go: factory presets for Arturia Synclavier V, V7 collection. Definitely a larger number of presets (total 639) than with V5, interestingly also combined with reorgani...

Re: 3rd Party Plugin factory presets database for Logic

Ah, I see. Presets seem to have changed a bit for newer versions, though. I have V7 and there are (for example) 75 basses instead of 60, 15 brass presets instead of 13, 62 lead sounds instead of 38 and so on. Not sure if its worth re-doing over those differences but if there's interest I already hav...

Just checking: I can't find the Arturia Synclavier settings in the index. If those were not done yet I could do it...

Re: Control tempo changes from Midi controller

Have you enabled the tempo recording in the projects recording settings ? As far as I understand it that's not the main problem: Imagine your song tempo is set to 120 and you have created that slider in the environment. You change the tempo with the slider while Logic is stopped, for example to 100...

Re: Control tempo changes from Midi controller

For recording it is sufficient to put Logic in "Pause" mode, hit record, adjust the tempo and then hit space to actually record. This will (at least in 10.5.1) record the adjusted tempo at the moment the recording was started.

Re: Automation Cruves are there but no Automation Topic is solved

The way I read the list it shows the controller for "Noise Level" increasing from 82 to 91 (during the section displayed in the list). This sounds plausible. My guess would be that the automation was saved properly and that what we're seeing is some sort of "translation error". O...

Re: Automation Cruves are there but no Automation Topic is solved

It probably would be good to look at the data itself. Can you make a screenshot of the automation data list? You might have to define a key command for it first; I believe this list is not directly accessible.

Re: How to drive multiple instruments from one MIDI track?

I'd suggest using Aliases. Drag the region to a second track while holding alt-shift. This creates a "mirror" region on the target track (instrument); all edits are still done to the original region.

Re: 10.5.8: Drummer (Percussion) not in time? Topic is solved

OK, so it was the disabled PDC; thanks Jakob. And it also is 10.5.1, not 10.4.8. How PDC got disabled - I don't know. I recently upgraded to Mojave and Logic 10.5.1; perhaps it happened along the way there. I still find it interesting how large and different the latencies are. The same material play...

10.5.8: Drummer (Percussion) not in time? Topic is solved

On my system the different percussion "players" (Isabela, Quincy, Finn) are all around a 16th late. Oddly enough the waveform display is correct. The other "drummers" are (more or less) in time although they appear also a bit late to me. I don't recall this being the case in 10.4...

Re: Sostenuto Pedal doesn't work on Piano through Logic

Logic's internal plugins don't support those controllers in the typical fashion. There possibly could be cobbled something together for the left pedal but probably not for the middle one. Another example for a third party plugin that partly supports those controllers is Arturia's Piano V2. Interesti...

This needs more context. What kind of instrument/plugin are you trying to control here; and what would you like the pedals to accomplish?

Re: Sostenuto Pedal doesn't work on Piano through Logic

Let's have a look at the manual: The implementation chart in the back says Controller #64, #66 and #67 are both transmitted and received. #64 is the right pedal, #66 the middle one and #67 the left one. Does the activity LED light up in Logic's main window when pressing the middle or left pedal? Tha...

Re: Sostenuto Pedal doesn't work on Piano through Logic

Please clarify what you mean with "doesn't work":

Data is sent to Logic but not recorded (and played back)?
Data is sent to Logic and recorded but the internal plugins don't react to it?
Data isn't sent at all?

Re: "muted" sounds on piano roll Topic is solved

I opened up a project today, and the sound was off for the piano roll. Nothing is muted, so I can hear everything during playback, but when I go to click on or create a note in the piano roll, nothing sounds. I'm sure there's some setting I accidentally pressed or something. Any clue? Is by chance ...
