Re: Cycling between patches within setlist

This definitely can be done but requires a bit of work. Perhaps there are also other ways to do it - I don't know. It also might making re-arranging things a bit more complicated. You have the global assignment for "Next Patch" on the Concert level. We actually can keep that. What you now ...

Re: possible bug: MIDI velocity in Live Loops

More Live Loops weirdness, this time involving the list editor. When opening the list editor when one cell is selected it doesn't show the cell's contents but the cell overview. Not particularly worrisome yet. Bildschirmfoto 2021-05-26 um 22.12.17.jpg Clicking on a note in the piano roll for the cel...

Re: possible bug: MIDI velocity in Live Loops

So it's still there in 10.6? (I'm on 10.5.1)

Re: Bfd3 has no kits, only in logic (mac m1)

My guess is that those other programs run under Rosetta and Logic runs native under Apple Silicon.

possible bug: MIDI velocity in Live Loops

This is happening on 10.5.1: Bug Velocity.logicx.zip Simple two-bar loop (length doesn't seem to matter) with manually input notes (or recorded notes, doesn't seem to matter). The goal was to create a velocity "fade in". Select all, and draw with the Automation tool the fade in in the velo...

Re: MIDI Velocity Sometimes Doesn't Work Topic is solved

Found it: It happens with Live Loops. Is this a known thing? If not I can attach a project.

Re: MIDI Velocity Sometimes Doesn't Work Topic is solved

Not to hijack this topic, but I've experienced weird issues with velocity lately. Mainly that the velocity of a number of notes could be changed without audible effect. The case involved a velocity "fade in" done with the line tool; all notes showed the new velocities ok but did not change...

Re: Real-time bounce v off-line bounce

There certainly is some "weirdness" in real time playback; not sure if that also translates to real time bounces. It feels to me as if the internal MIDI engine needs some "settling time". I actually had prepared an example song and wanted to ask about this (in the sense of "...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

Also pay attention to what I said about how Logic will register audio when it thinks you heard it, not when it received it. Also keep in mind that audio tracks know NOTHING about the grid. They only know about currently known latency and they make a calculation to record the audio where Apple think...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

Drummer tracks are tracks with software instruments aren't they? The conversion from digital to audio in real time is not involved when bouncing in place, it's all in the DAW and the sound interface is not involved at all. The buffer size shouldn't matter in that situation. As long as they are soft...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

When you have a high buffer setting, LogicPro knows that the incoming audio from your external keyboard is going to take a long time to get through the interface into the track, that is why it registers is early on the track so that when you play it back it should play it back at the moment in time...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

Were you using external midi tracks or a software Inst track with the ext Inst plugin on it? Software monitoring on or off? I'm not at work right now so I only have my home setup (which was used for the first test). So I quickly did another test: External MIDI track, software monitoring off. Synthe...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

How are you determining if the midi is early or late? By your sense that you think you are playing exactly to the click? Just saying’ If you play (manually) an external synth and record at the same time both MIDI and audio coming from it you can at least determine where both sit in relation to each...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

One thing should have become more clear: The problem seems NOT to be that Logic places the recorded MIDI data too late; it seems more as if Logic "overcompensates" the latency for incoming audio. I don't understand how you can say that logic over compensates the latency for audio. Both yo...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

(This is in response to Dewdman42) I think all this has nothing to do with the fact that Logic places audio material early compared to the same MIDI material - at least for large buffer settings. If I connect my DX7 both by audio and MIDI to Logic and play randomly a note the audio material will be ...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

So I invested a few hours into some rigorous testing and I must say the results are weird. Setup: iMac 27" 2019, 3 Ghz i5, 10.14.6, Logic Pro X 10.5.1 MotU 828x brown DX7, connected via MIDI to the 828x; MIDI loopback from DX7 THRU to 828x (DX7 has hardware MIDI THRU) The setup for all tests wa...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

I'll try to do a test on different hardware tomorrow, but in general I'd suspect a driver "problem" here. There are different layers to latency compensation and at each step something can go wrong. Logic has to compensate for different types of latency: latency introduced by plugins and in...

Re: midi latency at recording, not the average problem

None, it's pure loopback from Logic to Logic.
