Re: Is this new mac mini good for logic? Thanks

or Mac mini i5-8500 3.0GGHz/8GB/512GB? (with idea to boost ram soon) It's not that easy to change Ram yourself. Are you good with small screws and small connectors and doing surgery on a computer? Is i7 investment? This multi-theading thing and little better gpu for a adaptable person. Multi-thread...

Re: Logic and VE Pro

Are we talking about a VE Pro template? If you save your Logic project connected to it but decoupled, then if you open the VE Pro server project first, then the Logic project, it will automatically connect.

Re: Is this new mac mini good for logic? Thanks

Unless something has changed though, the i7 is the only one that employs multi-threading, which is very helpful running orchestral sample libraries. If you mostly just record audio, vocals, guitars, etc. probably matters less. All the Mac mini’s are not as good as iMacs for video editing though beca...

And by then you'll be able to purchase one of the new 34" iMac with roll-up flexible screen, 8.4Ghz processor, 512 GB RAM and four 128 TB SSD.

Sure I will, right after you give me your credit card information:)

Re: New imac needed : wait for silicon?

The answers depends on your situation and whether you can afford to wait or if you need a new Mac right away. You have to make your decision based on that uncertainty though. There's no one knowing for sure whether a new 27" silicon iMac will be out any time soon, and even if it's out soon, if...

Re: New imac needed : wait for silicon?

Fusion Drive is "fine" as you put it Jay, and it's better than a HDD, it's just not as good as an SSD. Nowadays for music production you really should try to work with SSDs as much as possible. Absolutely. But if you find a machine at a good price, it shouldn’t be a deal breaker to run th...

Re: Why no modern workflow enhancements?

Exactly. Personally I don’t give a large rodent’s hiney about Live Loops, but the internet exploded when pictures were leaked and I am guessing that a significant number of younger users are thrilled.

Oh yes, FD is to be avoided for music purposes.

I used to have a Fusion Drive as my boot drive but since all my samples were streaming from other drives, it was fine.

Re: New imac needed : wait for silicon?

Wow, opinions all over the map here. If I needed a new computer I'd go ahead and buy it, the Intel OS is going to be supported for a long time and I'd rather deal with a known quantity. Let other people be the canary. I love my 2018 Mini. I have been considering one of those 2018 Minis, but I hear ...

Re: PDC is killing my love for LOGIC

With UAD plugins, you are running on a DSP chip on an external card, unless you have an Apollo and are running them directly in their Console app, so the latency I think has to be different from native plugins, and I think any DAW is going to have some issues reconciling the two.

Re: Stop LPX from sending CC7 messages to Kontakt Topic is solved

I've just discovered it is indeed my Keystation sending cc7 data out of the volume fader. It looks like I cannot disable this function on the keyboard. Is there a way I can disable Logic from receiving this data instead? Wow, so my guess was right? Ha! While you can do that in the Environment globa...

My guess, and it’s only a guess, is that your MIDI controller is causing this. Try trashing your CS preferences.

No. I used to have different settings for film cues templates vs pop songs.
