What's the control for a choke in EZDrummer? A quick Googling suggests it's aftertouch. If your keyboard does aftertouch (or even if it doesn't), take a look in the events list or hyperdraw in your fill region to see if you've got some aftertouch events in there that are choking the cymbals.

Tried everything else with no luck. Like I said, the pod gets recognized, but no signal. Last night a signal did come through, but it was just a spiking audio level (no sound, or at least it wasn't coming through my speakers). That's really weird--it should be all-or-nothing! Two more things to try...

should I record using the USB? is the quality better?

I haven't done any A/B tests for quality, but the main advantage is that you're eliminating a digital-analog-digital conversion by going straight digital out of the POD.

Hi Drew, I haven't used the XT Live, but I have used the XT kidney bean, so let me give this a shot. When you plug in and turn on the POD, if Logic is running, it should ask you if you want to use the device. If you say Yes, if should automatically select the POD as your only input source as soon as...

hey uncleozzy. Doesn't the tremolo plug add tremolo though? Well, tremolo is just cyclical volume modulation. Insert a stereo tremolo plugin, and you get an automated volume curve on each channel. Set those 180 degrees out of phase, and you've got an effect that pans your audio back and forth. Ther...

The tremolo plugin works great for this. (Or, if you don't need a cyclical effect you could just automate the channel strip's panning.)

You could automate Ultrabeat's panning parameters, but personally, I think it's easier to use Ultrabeat as multi-output (plus you can apply effects to individual drums, too). Once you've got the multiple outputs set up, just record automation for whatever parameters you want to change. If you need h...

anyways, would it be possible to use one instance of ivory, but have one of the three ivory tracks sent to a grouptrack/fx track and throw the effects on that track? Unless I'm misunderstanding, you've got 3 tracks of MIDI controlling only one instance of Ivory, and you want effects applied to Ivor...

I'm new to Logic (but not to DAWs), and I found the Macprovideo Logic 101 series to be a helpful introduction to some of Logic's features. Most of it was old hat--many of the early lessons are about basic DAW or audio concepts--but there are some helpful Logic-specific tips that have already started...

Not knowing which specific Powerbook you have, I can't say for sure, but the fact that Crucial is offering you PC2-4200 RAM probably means that your memory bus speed isn't any faster than that. Which means you should probably choose that module--since it has lower latency (CL4 vs. CL5).

Sure, you should just be able to use the "import" button in UB (above the sample list). Click it, select the kit you want to import from, and the list of samples under the import button should populate. Then just drag the sample you want onto the one you want to replace.

Wow, don't know why I didn't think to check the Mackie forums. Sounds like some problems with the latest firmware updates, among other things. Oh well, sounds like I might be sticking with the B mixer til after Christmas. Thanks.

Mackie Onyx Satellite

I've been sort-of in the market for a FW interface for a long time, but it's never been a priority. I don't record too much live audio (acoustic guitar, and the occasional vocal track), so I've been hobbling along with an old Behringer mixer that I can't turn off because the phantom power won't come...
