Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

We are hitting here on one of the main problems (and differences) of MIDI and MIDI files. MIDI connections are by design serial. Computers and MIDI files are not. A computer and a MIDI file can have dozens of events on the same timestamp. Those have to be sent via MIDI in a serial fashion; and that'...

Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

Let's go down that rabbit hole even a bit deeper. I completely agree with your analysis. So you can determine the exact order within a single timestamp by how they are actually stored. But still, Apple and other devs aren't really officially recognizing that ordering..its just a convenient fact of m...

Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

Perhaps you may be able to figure out why logic ends up with that extra 120bpm event. That is like the default tempo so I’m rather suspicious that is not in the midi-file, but the way logicpro reads the midifile and overlays it into your project could perhaps leave an existing tempo point in place?...

Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

I'd probably just delete the erroneous 120 BPM tempo in Logic and be done with it....

That one's part of the MIDI file and it certainly shouldn't be there because it can cause problems.

Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

If you want to get to the bottom of this: Try to change the 114 BPM in Sibelius to something higher than 120 and export it again. If Logic then recognizes the new (higher) tempo it means that Logic sorts the events by value if they appear at the same timestamp. (That wouldn't be a solution, though; ...

Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

Looks logical to me: - the first tempo is the last one belonging to the fermata (or a ritardando that isn't visible) - the second one (120) is - possibly - the original tempo before the fermata (sort of like a "reset") - the final one (114) is the new tempo as entered So you entered that ...

Re: Forcing "Key of C" signature

I see the problem: You're trying to switch from a transposing instrument to a non-transposing one. Not sure if Logic can handle this.

Re: MIDI file opened in Logic is different (wrong) than other programs

Sibelius 6 interprets the MIDI file correctly (although it looks like a mess and the values right of the decimal point of the tempo are slightly different from ValliSoftware's list). Ableton Live 10 basically chokes on it and messes up everything after around measure 45 or so. Finale 25 and Musescor...

Re: Audio is recorded earlier than the midi note is played

You could turn off latency compensation in Logic completely and then record the output of the Polybrute; this should give you an idea how much latency there really is in that situation.

Re: Audio is recorded earlier than the midi note is played

My guess is that the Polybrute plugin reports a wrong latency (too high) and hence Logic's latency compensation plays the notes too early.

My guess is that the pads are treated as if they were part of the keyboard; they are not treated as automation.

Re: M-Audio Hammer Pro 88 and MOTU 828 Audio Interface

My misunderstanding. When you said “xlr” my brain immediately thought of the monitors since they are plugged via XLR in the back of MOTU. Like I said, I found another article in regards to this issue where others experienced something similar. Do you have any suggestions to this? https://www.motuna...

Re: M-Audio Hammer Pro 88 and MOTU 828 Audio Interface

Gacki, That could be possible but I don’t think it is. The back of the MOTU has “main outs” and that’s where the monitors are plugged into. The front of the MOTU has two inputs with phantom power and pad. Those are considered Mic/Line Ch:1&2 I have plugged a mic in there many times to record Vo...

Re: M-Audio Hammer Pro 88 and MOTU 828 Audio Interface

I think what Logic sees as Input 1+2 are the two XLR inputs. Consequently it sees Line inputs 1-2 on the MotU as Input 3+4.

I'm a bit irritated because I have 3 menu entries at the bottom of the instrument plugins menu - but "Logic" isn't one of them.

How do you roll it off - with the shelving band or the high pass?
If it's the shelving band: even a minimally raised Q will result in a boost.

Re: Processing Left and Right Separately Topic is solved

This here is actually a switch: Bildschirmfoto 2021-04-20 um 10.31.52.jpg Click it and hold the mouse down. It's a very effective way to play back just one side of stereo material. Do this with the same material on two tracks, one set to L and the other to R - and bingo. (There are probably other wa...

Using two channels with the same material and set one to "L" and the other to "R"?
