Mackie MCU Pro backlight LED display fading problem

I had been encountering that problem that seems to plague that controller. Which is too bad since it is otherwise a very comprehensive and sturdy tool to work with Logic. Because of that same recurring problem, I had my first MCU Pro unit exchanged, then had to also have the backlight of the new uni...

Re: smooth out smart tempo results?

You could possibly perform an analysis that defines bars instead of beats.
Selecting contiguous tempo points then right clicking to open the contextual menu and choosing "Replace by Average".
Also one could draw a curve from the step tempo point.

Re: Logic Tips - Using Apple Loops to inspire

This is indeed very useful workflow suggestion!
I really like that his tutorial goes straight to the point and his speech is very well articulated, even though he slides in many tips.
That's a keeper for sure!
Thanx a lot!

Re: Adding lyrics to an unmelodied score

If you need to tabulate lyrics, Logic indeed needs notes on the staff to line up same. That's the very purpose of that function. If all you need are written chords symbols over lyrics, have you considered hiding the notes and the staff and using TEXT's part (instead of LYRIC's one)? As you will see,...

Re: enter notes in guitar tab?

Prior opening the Score editor, in the region's inspector, have you tried setting the (staff's) Style to Guitar?

Re: Auto Set Locators bug? 10.6.2

In the Main menu>Navigate>Auto Set Locators>
have you tried deselecting some of options
(i.e. By Note Selection)?

So the Piano Roll scenario works fine in LOGIC X.6?
Yes! So far so good.

I do have a work around for the issue in LOGIC X.4 by using a separate Score Window for the guide track rather than the Piano Roll.

According to your signature, we do indeed have different versions of Logic, which most likely explains the different behaviors, as you point out.

Re: editing expression in step editor

A common workflow is to record expression (CC#11 events) in realtime using a modwheel (or another MIDI controller such as a breath controller) while listening to the performance to modulate. Once the expression recording (part) is completed, edit manually as needed. IMHO, that is a way faster and ea...

Re: Add Images to Notes Window (Tracks and Project)

Those images are picture files (ie jpg) you add to the space where you normally type in the notepads.
This video tutorial explains it (from 0m50s)

Re: External Instruments

Are you using the External Instrument plugin ? If you click on the R button of the external synth's channelstrip, then selecting a different track (in order to access the library of the virtual instrument plugin' s library presets) shouldn't cause the external synth's channelstrip R to be disengaged...

Re: editing expression in step editor

Could you please clarify what you mean exactly by expression . In MIDI term, Expression is defined by CC#11 events. OTOH, velocity isn't a distinct event (like Expression) but an integrated part of a MIDI note event. MIDI notes and Expression (CC#11) are (totally) different (independent) MIDI events...

Re: How to record on a midi track while viewing other tracks midi

Try the folowing: 1- Opening the Piano roll window (as a separate one from the main window), selecting the desired reference (prerecorded) track to have it displayed its content (in the separate Piano Roll window). 2- Then, from that separate Piano Roll window's local View menu, disable the Link opt...
