Neil Gilmartin
It used to be possible to add silence between takes simply by holding SHIFT when moving the region boundaries. Recently, however, SHIFT does nothing at all for me. Is there a new shortcut for adding silence when using Quick Swipe Comping (QSC)? Attached is a screenshot of the silence feature while holding SHIFT when doing QSC. That doesn't seem to be an option anymore... David Nahmani
It works for me here in 10.6.2. Shift turns my mouse tool into a resize tool which allows me to shorten the edge of a selection slice, inserting silence in the comp:
Neil Gilmartin
Hi David I'm using 10.6.3 and SHIFT is not working for me...I've attached a video file. Cheers for the swift reply, mate! David Nahmani
Darn so it got broken between 10.6.2 and 10.6.3 then?
Neil Gilmartin
Or I'm just doing something wrong...That is definitely a possibility. Let's see if anyone else using 10.6.3 has the same issue. Edited August 5, 2021 by Neil Gilmartin
David Nahmani
Ok I just tried in 10.6.3 and it works as expected, the same as in 10.6.2 for me. However what I find interesting is the shape of your mouse tool pointer on your screen capture, it's not the same as on mine. I'm not sure why. Neil Gilmartin
That's a little disappointing. I was kind of hoping it was a general bug. Misery loves company and all that. But thanks for checking it out in 10.6.3!
David Nahmani
That's a little disappointing. I was kind of hoping it was a general bug. Misery loves company and all that. But thanks for checking it out in 10.6.3! Things I would experiment with: try to reproduce in a new empty project. Create a single audio track, record two or three takes over a 1 bar cycle and try to reproduce the issue. If you suffer the same issue then I would try to create a new user account on your Mac and repeat the same experiment in the new user account. fisherking
have you rebooted? just thought to ask, this is (sometimes) a simple fix to quirky behaviors.
Solution Neil Gilmartin Posted August 6, 2021 Author Solution Share Posted August 6, 2021 Cheers for this, David and fisherking. The problem has resolved itself. It took more than a day though and several opening and closings of Logic. God only knows what sometimes goes on under the hood.
David Nahmani
Great, glad to hear. Sometimes it's best to keep the hood closed and just pray those Gremlins are gone...
