Alex Banks
Hi, I have a recurring problem with my controller, a Novation Launch Control. From time to time it stops working. All the mapping is visible in the Controller Assignments, but not responding. I can assign new controllers, but this doesn't 'kick start' the old ones. I only use the controller mapped to native and 3rd party plugins, volume, pan, mute and solo. What works: using Time Machine to restore the Logic Prefs and a couple of restarts. What doesn't work; unplugging the USB cable to the controller and reconnecting it, combining this with restarts. I have a gut feeling that it may coincide with mapping new plugins. However, this is something I do reasonably frequently. What could be damaging the Pref file? Or is it something else. iMac Pro i9, OS 11.6, Logic 10.6.3, all legit plugins. Atlas007
Have you checked in the Control Setup window if something have changed in there (i.e. new undue installation)?
Alex Banks
Have you checked in the Control Setup window if something have changed in there (i.e. new undue installation)? I'm not sure what you mean by "undue installation"? Thanks
Atlas007
Sometimes Logic will spontaneously install unduly a controller (in the Controller Setup window), which could interfere with the proper functions of the legitimate (Novation) controller. That might be due to a MIDI glitch, interpreted by Logic as a new controller being connected. Hence my previous suggestion…
Alex Banks
That's interesting, and thank you for that. What would this look like please? Would it appear as a destination without an assigned controller, because I have noticed those. Or something else? Do you know of a workaround? Thanks. Atlas007
Those are installed controllers in the Control Surface Setup window. Normally those should correspond to the one you installed. In your case you should see only one controller icon (the Novation’s), unless you have installed others. If there are some that you did not install, simply click on it to select and hit the delete key on your computer to remove (to uninstal). Alex Banks
Thank you so much for that. I'll check this the next time this happens. For what it's worth, it's still my opinion this glitch happens after assigning a set of controllers to 3rd party plugin parameters. Cheers.
