kerochan
After writing some drum patterns in the piano roll, I hi-lighted the hi hats expecting to be able to solo them, but I cant find how to !? Any advice appreciated.
Solution David Nahmani Posted June 20, 2017 Solution Share Posted June 20, 2017 No, you cannot solo notes in the Piano Roll. You can however mute notes in the Piano Roll. In order to hear only your hi-hats, you could use this workaround: Select the hi-hat notes. Press Shift-I to invert the selection. Press Control-M to mute the (inverted) selection. kerochan
Thank you for this David, this is a help indeed. Hopefully being able to solo notes in the Piano Roll will be possible in a later Logic update!?

Atlas007
In the meantime, moving the HH (and/or other drum pieces) to a distinct region/tract could also achieve that. Besides, isn't there a mouse solo tool somewhere in there?
David Nahmani
Besides, isn't there a mouse solo tool somewhere in there? In the Tracks area yes (to solo regions), but not in the Piano Roll.

Hey, I'm using Logic 10.7.9, does anyone know if this feature was added in Logic 10.8.1? Thanks Edited March 7 by Dmitry S.

Dmitry S.
What would you suggest to use if the goal is to write numerous drums and percussion in piano roll to be able to hear a single instrument within a region without having to do much actions? thanks
David Nahmani
In the Piano Roll, on the vertical keyboard on the left, click the key for the drum kit piece you want to hear —> all the notes on that key are selected. Press Shift + I to invert the selection. Press Control + M to mute.
Dmitry S.
And make a sequence of two shortcuts into one and then map it to a single button, not bad, thanks 😃
