Best method to get 2 channels output gain to be exact?

Hello.

I was wondering what's the best method to get 2 channels output gain to be the exact same? I have some ambient recordings that I am using, 1 for the first break, 1 different one for the 2nd break.. I would like to make it so that they have the exact same output gain, as to keep consistency for the background ambiance during the breaks..

I've tried using things like Sonalksis Free-G, and Logic's own meters, but it's almost pulling teeth to get both recordings to be of equal output gain, since they are very ambient and have a lot of dynamics (one being a record needle sound, the other being the ambiance of a rainforest).. the meters aren't getting me as close as I'd like (because of the wide dynamic ranges in each), and was hoping to see if you guys had any suggestions on how to accomplish this without adding any more processing to the sound besides volume change, since each sample is already fully processed.. I thought about using a limiter, but I don't want to kill the natural dynamics of these recordings.. They are both very "light", hitting in around -30-40db each..

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to basically "equalize" the output gain on these 2 channels? Thank you!
