DanRad
Has anyone succeeded in using a Jazz Font... If so, could you show an example and tell me how it's done?
volovicg
Specifically for the Jazzfont - It is available for purchase from Siegler at http://www.jazzfont.com Once downloaded - you click on the fonts and install them on your system using font book. Once installed Logic will detect them and make them available as options under layout->global --- system fonts at the bottom. Here you can change to one of the 5 fonts supported ( Internal, Sonata, Bravura, Jazz and Swing. The font choice is global in nature for the entire piece. You also get a collection of jazz fonts that can be used for such things as chords and text...which need to be selected in addition to the system fonts if you want use them. See below.... including a sample of the font... here is a sample view of the font...... I added a few random symbols to the score so you can see the effect on them in using the jazz font as well as the others....

gabrielsolomon
Hello, I'm not having any luck with this font after purchasing. I think the font is installed correctly, but it's not displaying correctly. With internal font: http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/InternalFont.png With Jazz Font selected: http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzFont.png
volovicg
That doesn't look like the correct jazz font....... Open up Font Book on your mac, find the jazz font and select show info from the menu - verify if it is the sigler jazz font and what version ? I believe it should be 4.1 or later..... I also believe this is where you can download the correct one.... http://store.digitalriver.com/store/jazzfont/en_US/pd/productID.191692600 Fixed above link

gabrielsolomon
Thanks for the responses. I did buy it from the jazz font store on digital river. The stuffit archive came with what seems like ALL the versions of this font. I was able to install the true type version. Below are the info panes from font book: http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzCord.png http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzPerc.png http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzTextRegular.png http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzFont1.png http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzTextExtendedRegular.png
volovicg
I don’t see the jazz font in the above list ? Can you search for it in font book and post its info ?
volovicg
This is what you should see...... there are several fonts included but the base font required for Logic is just called Jazz
gabrielsolomon
This is what my Jazz Regular looks like. It doesn't display any of the characters as your screenshot does. I don't know why. I've uninstalled it and re-installed it several times, complete with reboots. http://www.gabrielsolomon.net/media/JazzRegular.png
volovicg
That does not appear to be the right font.... Notice the number of glyphs is different and the date is different.....
gabrielsolomon
Yes I agree. That is what the store gave to me. I've downloaded it a second time. I managed to get the post script version to work. In the meantime I've written to Sigler to see if they will provide anything different.
