deltabeat Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 Hi, I am running Logic Pro X 10.3.1 on a macbook pro 10.12.5 and have a new Akai MPK Mini which is not being recognised by Logic Pro when I first plug it in. My other midi controllers are being recognised fine and according to this website so should the MPK Mini https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT205896. The MPK works fine in the sense that it transmits MIDI and works fine in Learn mode etc. I've reset Notifications and tried it on another mac all with the same result, i.e. it is not recognised for auto-assignment. deltabeat Posted June 25, 2017 Author Share Posted June 25, 2017 Further to this, in the Apple MIDI Setup utility I can see the MPK Mini listed as "MPKMini2" and it says it is online. I have tried adding it manually (Control Surfaces > Setup > New > Install...) where there is an "Akai Professional, LP", "MPK Mini" listed. However, selecting it and pressing the 'Add' button does nothing. Clutching at straws here, but is the issue that the MPK identifies itself as "MPKMini2" and Logic expects it to be "MPK Mini"? skijumptoes Posted June 25, 2017 Share Posted June 25, 2017 Does it show/have you got it ticked in the midi controllers menu of Control Surfaces prefs? To check go:- Preferences > General Once in that screen Swap to Control Surfaces Tab at the top, Then Midi Controllers sub menu and it should be on the list there. skijumptoes Posted June 26, 2017 Share Posted June 26, 2017 I would turn your MPK off/disconnect, and then delete it from apple's Midi setup screen (In MacOS Audio Midi Setup). When you turn it back on/reconnect again MacOS will re-detect, see what it detects as. Thing is, is that a version 2 MPKMini?, in which case it may be normal for the 2 to be on the end? Even though the MPK Mini "mk2" is over 3 years old you may be right that only the mk1 is supported as a control surface. Which would be a bit strange though ... and stranger still that there is nothing out there in Internet-land about that, at least that I could find Are there any mk2 owners on this board? I can use the akai mpk mini2 but I cant setup the keys on the pads with the editor.. and also i not recognised on logic pro x control surfaces some help??!
