rockmann413
I've used DP which u can set the Tempo to slave to an external source, in logic pro X, can we do the same? Meaning I have another port which gives tempo info and logic is always slaving to that external tempo
Atlas007
Have you checked this?
oilpanic
It can not sync to an incoming MIDI clock. Not happy about this.
rockmann413
Have you checked this? That is MTC/MMC sync, not what we want to do here.
volovicg
For MC it can serve as the master... if your other devices can serve as slaves - can this not work for you? What exactly are you attempting to do...
Glenn L.
It hasn't been able to sync to an external clock since LP8. I had LE7, which did sync to external sources, and my original plan was to use LE7 for software instruments that would input into my Roland VS recorder, which I'd use for audio recordings. When LP8 came out, I had to go 'all in' with Logic, and I abandoned the Roland VS-2000.
drakepeterdrake
I routinely slave Logic Pro X to Studio Vision Pro from another computer using midi time code. I do tell Logic what the incoming tempo is in the control bar. The lockup is pretty quick, but I have found the sync is not exact. I've measured +/- 6 ms. when slaving. This is good enough to automate plugin parameters, etc., but is not tight enough that you could split audio or midi between the two machines. FWIW, I send MTC out from SVP on my G4 via a MOTU midi timepiece. I then connect a midi cable from that midi timepiece's midi out to another midi timepiece's midi in which is plugged into the Mac Pro running Logic. MTC is just not accurate enough in most cases. volovicg
Hmmmm not sure why that would be - have you confirmed all devices are using the same frame rate?
rockmann413
Guys, not trying to sync via MTC, but try to have Logic Pro X follow the tempo coming from another source/daw, is this possible? DP can slave to another DAW's tempo
volovicg
No for midi clock logic has to be the master. For MIdi time code - logic can be the Master or the slave.
rockmann413
midi clock can sync over tempo information, just Logic can't be the slave ?
Glenn L.
nope.
