CC data disappears in floating piano roll

Can anyone throw light on this - I think it's a bug?  I have what I call a control track - (hold down Opt when duplicating a track header) - which I use for recording data post the actual recording of MIDI data on the track.

The CC data (usually expression or modulation) is visible in the piano roll (open MIDI Draw and select the appropriate CC).  However, when I float the piano roll the CC data disappears.  I like to edit this data on my main screen - the tracks area and it's piano roll are normally on my left-hand monitor - but I prefer to edit with the pane fully in my face.

This is very frustrating and any help or suggestions would be most gratefully received.

Many TIA, Jay

SOLVED!! (Kinda).  I've found that whereas the fixed piano roll pane in the the tracks area has MIDI Draw on channel = any, when I pick it up and float it, the floated pane has channel = 1.  When I change it to Any my data is visible and editable again.

Heaven only knows why the channel selection should change when you float an ostensible duplicate of the pane.

Maybe it's a clever feature but I rather think it's a bug.  Perhaps one of our moderators who has the ear of the developers at Apple could acquaint them of this?  It's just another one of those things that wastes an hour or more of my time and disrupts my workflow and creative process in what is otherwise a fabulous piece of software.
