Do I have to mute tracks when recording?

Hi There,

I'm running a Thunderbolt Focusrite Clarett which seems to have insanly low latency (sounds great too). However, when I record, I think I can hear a very slight chorus effect which I can't hear when playing back.

Questions:

  1. Am I hearing two lots of monitoring somehow?
  2. If so, is there something in Logic or on the Clarett that I should be muting?
  3. When I tried connecting a Lexicon effects processor using the I/O plugin, I got insane feedback. If I mute the track, the feedback stops - could this the same issue?

Have tried:

  1. Toggling input monitoring on/off
  2. Muting the track, which obviously stops the feedback on the Lexicon but then I can't send a ping to check latency (or send audio presumably)

I don't fully understand the answers I've found so sorry if this is easy.

Cheers

Ben

Hmmm, I must admit I don't really understand the added complexity of Focusrite control but I did find and mute something called a Loopback which looks like it monitors everything coming off the computer.

But because the output of Logic was going through the Clarett I'm not sure the loopback feature would monitor itself again.

Anyway, thanks for the headsup - more research needed.

Awesome forum btw, much appreciated.
