barneyfresh
Hi Everyone, Hopefully someone can help me. I recently got into external synths. I have a Dave Smith REV-2 synth and a Moog Minitaur hooked up to my logic session. Both sounds come through. But so weird, one of the knobs of the Minitaur affects the cutoff of the REV2... I had some issues before with the REV-2 in Logic though, certain parameters on the REV2 went back to 0 after turning the knob, and the cutoff knob was suddenly attached tot the volume slider of the Logic X External Instrument plugin... (these problems only occured within Logic ) I found 'bypassing All Control Surfaces' took care of this problem I think its a Logic thing, maybe I am dong something wrong in the setup? hope to hear from someone! David Nahmani
How did you set them up in Logic exactly?
barneyfresh
Hi David, Thanks for answering. I have them both through the External Instrument plugin. Rev2 has Midi Channel :All Input2 Minitaur has Midi Channel :All Input 1 Cheers, Bart
David Nahmani
Then both keyboards are controlling both synths. I recommend choosing different MIDI channels for both keyboards. Follow these directions: https://www.logicprohelp.com/instruments-tracks-midi-channels/

David Nahmani
You're welcome! Hopefully that works for you!
barneyfresh
hmmm, sorry to say, but now it got even worse. I put them both on different midi channel in the External Plugin (Moog on 1, REV2 on 2. Now they actually behave as one. Searching for a sound through the bank knob on the REV2 changes the sounds on the moog as well, where before it was just one filter issue.. weird... EDIT: I also changed the Midi channels like in step 3 on the link you posted
barneyfresh
Ok, what I did now (and hopefully works) is inside the REV2 menu i addressed it to MIDI channel 1 and in the Minitaur plugin that comes with it I went to settings and addressed it to MIDI channel 2 the same I did in Logic for both External Instrument plugins.. Fingers crossed

David Nahmani
I would recommend you click the little down arrow at the right in Logic's LCD display and choose Custom, then press keys on both keyboards to double-check that they transmit on the desired MIDI Channel? Also, did you select autodemix in Logic?
