Mr Lager
Hi guys. Say I wanted to eq the mid and then eq the sides of a stereo track would I place a mid only eq followed by a side only eq in the plugin chain? Or is it better to split into 2 different aux channels for the different mid and side pocessing? Does the Logic eq decode the signal back into a stereo signal after the m/s processing? I´m placing these mid side eqs in the same plugin chain and things sound how I intended in terms of width and mix placement but I was wondering if the signal needs to be split. Apologies if my terminology is off.
Solution Eric Cardenas Posted October 3, 2017 Solution Share Posted October 3, 2017 Just use them in tandem. You don't need to split the signal between different channel strips.

simon.a.billington
Yeah that is true. I’m actually kind of surprised that Apple hasn’t made it so you only require one plugin for the process, the same way other mid-side eqs do, like the ones from Plugin Alliance for example or the Waves H-EQ as another. It’s not needed, but does simplify things and reduces the confusion a little.
Eric Cardenas
You can. Insert the EQ as dual mono instead of stereo.
Darude
Just use them in tandem. You don't need to split the signal between different channel strips. You can. Insert the EQ as dual mono instead of stereo. Now, after, 10.3.x, it's possible, which is aaamazing. Dual mono feature is SUCH a long awaited feature and makes life SO much easier! Eric Cardenas
Totally! One of the greatest additions to Logic in recent times.
simon.a.billington
You can.Insert the EQ as dual mono instead of stereo. Oh yeah, that is true. I’d forgotten I had also discovered that myself!! I’ve used Duo Mono on a few occasions, but because I have a few mid-side processors I haven’t actually used it for that yet.
SRF_Audio
Assuming your interface doesn't decode M/S signal already, you can also just use a stereo track with a Direction Mixer. Plugins->Imaging->Direction Mixer->Stereo. Then click on the MS under Input. Then you can treat them just like normal stereo tracks.
