TheRdungeon
Hi all, been doing a lot of loop processing lately and have been wondering about where to put transient markers, I notice the sound changes a LOT with markers moving even slightly to the left or right. At the moment I'm putting them at the start of hits (am doing percussion loops) do these screenshots look like I've been putting them in the right place? As you can see I kind of waver between placing them right at the start of the hit vs when the 'meat' of the hit comes in. Any advice appreciated
Atlas007
Usually, letting Logic first detect the transients either via the file editor or the proper flex option yields optimum results. Sometimes requiring minimal editing.
TheRdungeon
Thanks Atlas, if I then save the loop as an apple loop from logic will it keep those transients? I've had variable results from saving apple loops inside logic in the past
TheRdungeon
Also do you reckon I have them in the right spot? on the last screenshot 1.4.0 and 1.4.5 are in different spots, i assume 1.4.5 is in the right place and 1.4.0 is too far into the hit, would that be correct? I guess that depends of your intended goal. If you wish to have them all spaced evenly, flex tool should allow you to set them the way you wish. TheRdungeon
To be honest I don't know which way I'd like them set :/ Just the smoothest way possible. That's the problem really, I don't even know where they're supposed to be
David Nahmani
Your transient markers positions look pretty good to me. You can also add some at the end of each slice, which helps tightening things up when time-stretching. The utility allows you to preview your loop at various tempos, so try that and if you hear artifacts you can experiment with different transient marker positions to see if you can improve them. TheRdungeon
Thanks David, finding doing them inside logic seems to be the best bet, Loop Utility gives me that shaky-leg feeling like it's gonna throw some bugs in there. Also great for trimming/stretching regions which aren't perfectly in tempo
