adrianlemusic
Hi guys! I'm new in this forum. I need your help and expertise. I have a hardware compressor and I want to use it on my master bus.. the thing is that I don't know how to do it properly. I use other hardware gear during the mixing stage but I'm in doubt cause I know that perhaps the way to do this is by not using the I/O "plugin" under the utility menu. I´m using the latest Logic version. Thanks a lot in advance!

adrianlemusic
What audio interface are you using? I´m using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 (1st gen), it has 10 outputs, I´m using only 4... the main outputs 1 & 2 for monitoring and 3 & 4 for sending audio to one hardware compressor in order to print audio when I want to compress something. triplets
If you want to make changes while mixing, the I/O plugin is your best option.
adrianlemusic
If you want to make changes while mixing, the I/O plugin is your best option. The problem is that I don´t know how to route all the audio in order to pass through the master bus compressor and then print my mix once I finish mixing. triplets
Have you ever used the I/O plugin? If not, you have to specify input and output channels. Remember for the I/O to work, you have to bounce in real-time. If that is too complicated, then mix in the box. Once you bounce your mix, create a new session and use one track for the mix and another for the hardware compressor. The output of the in the box mix will be 3-4 and then line in into whatever you specify for the compressor. Then hit record.
