OS and Logic Upgrades for my machine

Hi,

I have been running Logic 10.0.7 on my MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.4) for a few years with no problems.

I am getting to the point where I want software that requires later versions and I would very much welcome your advice on the best path for my machine.

I would like to avoid things not working afterwards (of course).

I backup to Timemachine everyday and I do have a zipped copy of Logic in my Apps folder.

My machine is a 16Gb, 2.2GHz I7 MacBook Pro

1) What would be the safest upgrade for OS? Currently 10.9.4, should I go to 10.11 or even latest? Will my machine handle this?

2) What is safest upgrade for Logic? Again, latest version (would I see huge changes?) or a previous (but newer for me) version?

3) Best order of upgrades? e.g. OS first, Logic second?

4) If I hit issues is it a case of just restoring (through Timemachine) to a previous workpoint?

I would very much welcome your thoughts for a safe passage.

Thank You

You were running Mavericks all this time and an old Logic version on that powerful laptop?

Anyway, make sure you do a Time Machine backup of your current laptop before you upgrade to High Sierra and Logic 10.3.2

You have to do the operating system first, since Logic X won't run on anything previous to El Capitan 10.11

Do you have an installer for El Capitan to avoid going to High Sierra?

Hi,

Well I am a musician foremost and it's worked fine for me so far.

So you think my machine will be okay with the upgrades for both?

Are you saying there is a way to install 10.11 rather than High Sierra? Is that a safer bet? What would be the reason?

If there are issues, do you just recover to a restore point via Time Machine?

Thank You :)
