LogicIsDoomed
1) I moved my entire Logic sound library (including Garage Band files & Apple Loops) to an external hard drive. 2) I used Symlinker for Mac to create aliases that point to the respective library locations on my ext. hd. 3) All works well. However..... 4) When I boot Logic, if I ever forget to boot my external hd. BEFORE starting Logic, the symlinks break!!! This happens t least 1 time per day and when this happens I have to completely RE-setup the symlinks all over again. Pretty BIG pain in the a.. to say the least. Other than having a perfect memory, is there a way to create symlinks that DO NOT break if one forgets to first boot the correct ext. hd???? Even if I shut down Logic then boot up the necessary ext. hd and then reboot Logic, the symlinks remain broken and Logic immediately begins to REdownload what it sees as missing sound libraries. All this is SO VERY ANNOYING. How can I avoid this nightmare???? I want Symlinks that when and if the ext. hard drive is not connected, Logic will not keep auto-downloading the same sound libraries again and again. I want to simply be able to shut down Logic, connect the missing ext. HD, restart Logic and the symlinks are all working and Logic then sees the previously missing sound libraries. Is this doable????
