JamesK
My Chromaverb does not have the spectrum display nor does it have the button to turn it on or off like this one in the tutorial photo. Any idea what I may be missing here? My Chromaverb Tutorial Chromaverb
Eriksimon
Are all Logic Pro>Preferences>Advanced Tools turned on?
JamesK
Yes all Advanced tools are set to on. I don't know if this would effect things but when I updated this time I did not delete 10.3.3 first then proceeded to update. I left 10.3.3 in my Applications folder then selected update.
Eriksimon
That doesn't make a difference. 10.3.3 has no ChromaVerb, and the apps do not in any way "influence" eachother (unless you have both open, then they probably share one prefs file which may lead to conflict) but I don't know, haven't updated yet (from El capitan) so I can't help you much further, apart maybe from this: On what kind of track is it inserted? From the name ("Space Echo") it looks like you loaded some patch. Try inserting Chromaverb on a new stereo (audio, software instrument or aux-) track, see if that changes things. JamesK
Thank you for those suggestions. So far I've tried it on a stereo track a mono track an instrument track and a bus and it's the same result. ( tested all presets ) No Spectrum graph and no button to turn one on or off. It's very peculiar to say the least. Is anyone else experiencing this anomaly?
des99
Is it graphics card related? Maybe your graphics card isn't powerful enough to do the display?
JamesK
I hope not..... Heres my specs.
David Nahmani
I've been looking at this for a few minutes now and cannot figure out why you wouldn't have that button in your ChromaVerb... sorry!
volovicg
Just to try something.....Delete the user default.... Close the plug in, remove it and re- insert - see if that helps....
JamesK
The "delete" option is greyed out. :/ Here is a video:
maceasy
I think it's something to do with whether you graphics card supports the metal thing. An old mac probably won't.
Ploki
AMD support on 7000+ series. Might be a metal thing.
Eriksimon
That iMac is listed as being fully supported on the latest OS, so I don't think that it's a graphics issue. But maybe switch the plugin to Controls view, and see what is there?

tremo
Hmmm.... maybe it is a Metal thing. Visualization works fine on my 2012 MBP, but not on my 2010 Mac Pro with Radeon 5770.
Eriksimon
IF this is so, then I don't quite understand why some random parts of a GUI are handled by some different graphics department/protocol/codingsoftwarethingy-like contraption. Sounds like inelegant convolution to me, and it breaks support for machines that are supported, so that some supported machines are in fact only partly supported machines.... And for what...? some lines, letters...? Nothing that couldn't be done by "old" protocols... oh well...
Ploki
Eriksimon: unfortunately I don't know *enough*, but IIRC; metal makes rendering a few things very efficient, meaning while you might be able to render the display on non-metal GPU /cpu, it would take a much bigger performance hit. (there's a lot of movement, physics, hazing going on in that display). Also it is able to bypass CPU and directly access the GPU. The way i see it, it's an instruction set, kinda like "MMX" on old pentiums. (but not really) It could be done by old protocol, by either being a) much less smooth with less FX (it seems to be pretty high FPS) b) uglier
des99
Yes - it only works on graphics cards that support metal, apparently.
realtwang
That must be it. Bummer. I even have the extra graphics card in my 2011 MBP, but no button on Chromaverb either. The Metal API wiki page says 2012 and above for Macs. Guess I'll just have to use my ears
Ploki
not that display is all that useful, just looks cool as f***. (and it really looks super cool)
KC
I’m finishing up a big project and don’t want to update in the middle. But I’m excited about this update. Curious if my 2012 MP will display everything. It doesn’t support Metal 2 so I may be out of luck.
Kinetik
Same here I don't have the spectrum display and there is no button to turn it on. I have an iMac Mid 2011 with AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB graphics.

KC
That may be correct, but my MP doesn’t support Metal of any variety. Not sure if I can upgrade my video card to make it work or if my MP is just never going to see “full” Metal Jacket. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205073 Still excited to try out all the new features, though. JamesK
It seems like others with pre 2012 Macs are experiencing the same. Shame. So far it's the only missing graphic in LX 10.4 that I've noticed so not a deal breaker and not enough to force me to buy a new Mac either. garethjones
I am also very disappointed not to see the pretty colours on my old Mac Pro. Great reverb tool though. Used it several times on the LP I am mixing.

Ploki
well if you connect a Metal support GPU via Thunderbolt i reckon you could use it on a standard mac as well
