Yes, indeed it is. Set your tempo to 'KEEP' in order to get the same behavior as before 10.4.

Thanks, David. I sussed that one out and made two templates, one with 'keep,' and one with 'adapt.' Works as expected.

just curious what you guys are seeing? "the visual play head"? startup here is same as it ever was (only, at least on the current beta), takes a half-second after a project loads to be able to play....

It only happens when there is a window open in another application.

a chance to play back a folder's contents? anyway, def not happening here (i just checked), so maybe fixed in HS (or a beta).

Playhead shows here on LPX 10.4 and HS 10.13.3 too, but it's a literary a split second for me, wouldn't have even noticed it were it not pointed out.

Same here, the playhead appears a bit before the rest of the project. No big deal at all, just a visual glitch.

Yeah, it's no biggie, just...odd. Is it usual for there to be such a paucity of info on how to use new features in major updates? I would've expected MPV to have new tuts off the bat on using the new tempo and articulation features. I really think this is a great update, or will be when the bugs are ironed out, and more info becomes available on the big new features, both of which are serious game changers for me. Makes me wonder what Apple is going to do for an encore in 10.5!

Well, now they have the adapt tempo in place, perhaps a kind of clip launcher which will allow some Ableton Live style jamming.

No bugs experienced here, best release for years IMO.

 

Though I am totally paranoid about updating to Sierra just to find it not compatible with various 3rd party stuff!

I've been putting it off too but I've just updated to Sierra and LPX 10.4 with very few hiccups. Just make sure you have a Time Machine Backup that you can restore from in case you do have any major problems. If your 3rd party plugins have any problems you can install 32Lives to keep them going but it's $99

It IS a free update... I pay $399 a year for Pro Tools HD updates which have, at times, been VERY buggy. We should feel lucky.

Also quite amazing how many 'bugs' are down to user error. A few minor niggles with my system but nothing I can't work around quickly. About to move on to Sierra and 10.4 but if it don't work I can switch back OS or LP version.

I'm happy on HS and 10.4.

I mean really happy, churning out stuff for clients without any issues. 32bit FP support for mastering handouts *YES*.
