Grouping, Import Session Data and Copy/Paste question

I have three questions for some of the more advanced Logic users out there. I'm in the midst of transitioning over from Pro Tools and was wondering if there were ways to accomplish three specific tasks:

1) I've familiarized myself with the Import Session Data functions in Logic and was wondering if there exists a way to match tracks. In other words, automatically assigning settings from similarly named tracks from another session to the tracks within the current session. I know it's possible to do it one at a time manually, but is there are way to do it in a single action? I know it's also possible to import blank tracks from another session and drag the regions over onto them, but was looking for a quicker way to go about it.

2) Can you have an edit group WITHIN an edit group? For example: A "Drums" group that contains all of the drums tracks and a "Snares" group that links just the snares when the "Drums" group is disabled?

3) Is it possible to copy and paste empty space over solid regions? For an example: Copying a bunch of regions with space in between them with the marquee tool and pasting them (along with the empty space in between) on top of a longer, solid region. Whenever I do this, the cut up smaller regions copy over, but not the empty spaces in between.

These are things I regularly do in Pro Tools and am wondering if I'm missing a way to accomplish them in Logic. Thanks for any help!

Not sure about this one. However, I have experienced Logic assigning VI instruments automatically to tracks when importing other MIDI based projects.

A channelstrip (to which is assigned a track) can pertain to more than one group at once, as explained here.

As described here, have you tried the following method:

  • Copy section of the arrangement
  • Set the locators to span the section you want to copy (bars 5 to 8, for example).

  • Choose Edit > Cut/Insert Time > Copy Section Between Locators (or use the Copy Section Between Locators (Global) key command).

  • Set the playhead to the position where you want to insert the copied section.

  • Either click the Insert Section button in the toolbar (to affect all tracks, regardless of selection), or choose Edit > Cut/Insert Time > Splice: Insert Snipped Section at Playhead.

All selected regions are cut at the left locator, and a passage of one cycle length is inserted. Regions currently in the Clipboard are then pasted at the playhead position.

These are things I regularly do in Pro Tools and am wondering if I'm missing a way to accomplish them in Logic. Thanks for any help!
BTW, if you are used to ProTools' key commands, you could import them in Logic...
