sg335man
Hello, I would be more then grateful for any help or advice on trying to connect (power) my Apogee Element Audio Interface (Thunderbolt 1-2) to my Mac Pro 2009 running High Sierra? Apogee say there’s no adaptor that will do this? It requires power? However I have all PCie slots open in the Mac Pro? Is there a card that may deal with this problem? I purchased the interface to use with my laptop which offers a Thunderbolt port yet the Mac Pro has a lot higher spec despite the age? Maybe I am out of luck. gdoubleyou
The first Mac to support TB was the 2011 MBP. Thunderbolt must be on the Motherboard. Go here to research Mac specs. https://everymac.com/
sg335man
Thanks for your help and advice. Yep it looks like there’s no way to connect the Apogee Thunderbolt interfaces or any interfaces for that matter to older Mac Pros! I guess I should have looked closer at both USB and Thunderbolt interfaces like the MOTU 624 before jumping in? Always liked the Apogee converters. It’s cheaper to buy another Interface than a newer Mac Pro thats for sure.
