planck
Hello, I have a Synology server connected with 10Gbe. The problem is that Logic X, while it can normally load projects, read & write (I can record normally and audio files show up in the NAS share), it seems that it cannot delete? The error I'm getting is: The operation couldn’t be completed. (OSStatus error -120.) Result code = -120 File = /Volumes/ssd/Bigfoot Projects/Test/Test Logic/Project/Audio Files/Project_1#02.aif I have given full permissions for that folder. Any idea why this happens? Anyone working with SMB or AFP share for their projects? Thanks Alex
planck
Hey, It seems this is OS related. I'm getting the same behaviour on studio one daw. Any ideas? Thanks Alex
skijumptoes
When you gave permissions to the folder, did you set the permissions to apply to all sub files/folders too?
David Nahmani
Is the SSD formatted for MacOS X Extended? As a troubleshooting experiment, can you try saving a project to a drive other than Volumes/ssd/ and see if the error disappears? This thread seems related to your issue: Directory Not Found Result Code = -120 [sOLVED]
planck
The volume on Synology NAS is formatted with ext4. I don't think it matters however, because it is accessed using SMB (shared folder). Until now the only solutions to make an IScsi drive on Synology and format it to Mac OS Extended. iScsi suffers from performance however. I don't think its a permission issue. Because -120 error is Directory Not Found. Yes, moving the Logic X session on local drive or IScsi drive works just fine. If I find a solution I'll post it here. Thanks Alex Logic does NOT like any other formats except MacOSX Extended and the new APFS. Everything else always gives read/write issues. I've seen people losing their projects because of other formats.
planck
Then there's simply no way to use network shares for sessions. Unless another NAS allows Mac OS filesystem to be used for the drives (Synology does not).
triplets
Then there's simply no way to use network shares for sessions. Unless another NAS allows Mac OS filesystem to be used for the drives (Synology does not). Network shares make total sense for video, since projects are huge. For audio, the majority of people use samples or sample replacement, and if they record audio, it's probably 44 or 48k. Projects can be send back and forth easily. It does matter: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT203930 "Format any hard drives used with Logic Pro in the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, also called the HFS Plus (Journaled) format." (APFS wasn't available in early 2017 when this was written)
MikeRobinson
I don't recommend using NAS for anything except storage of project files ... that is to say, when you are not actively running them or working on them. NAS is intended to be capacious, but not "real-time fast."
aleos
It's slightly off topic, but I thought I could piggyback on this thread. Thinking of getting a basic NAS for my studio. I won't be running any logic sessions off it, as it will be basically for storage. But I do want to be able, when, say, clients come over to the studio to look at stuff Ive done for them, I can stream video off it. Or better yet, they can sit on a couch, and stream the video/audio work themselves. I'm thinking of WD MyCloud Ultra EX2. I don't know anything about NAS except for what I've researched in the last 3 weeks. Any tips to give? Any warnings? Good experiences? Thanks guys, A
